There will be testing, just not your typical one.

Why this a surprise is still a mystery to me. They've first told us there were for sure to be some sort of testing  but gave no specifics, it's clear NCsoft was concentrating on the Korean betas and only entertained the notion of an english beta... What we are getting are ways to preview the game and a hint that there will be a stress test.. In other words an OP for us, or a preview event for everyone or something like that...

I don't find that depressing.. ? Feel free to convince me otherwise. ^_^

There has been a beta in Korea, there will be trials for EU/US people (including some kind of closed beta for feedback, etc).

So a game with a lax NDA and previews coming up at the Games Convention, PAX and we don't know where else has something to hide?

I understand the community has had a lot of letdowns lately, I also think the community like many devs over promise and overreach themselves... NCsoft has yet to promise much of anything, they have not put out countless and meaningless videocasts on how sweet their game is going to be next gen and own everyone else including the eager fans. Many of us have belly ached all year why there was no marketing for this game, and yet now that the game is closer to being ready that is starting to appear... I don't see any disappointment of features not added as said, because they never promised anything other then the basic components. Reports of the beta have been very positive...

Something to hide? Do you not find reviews, beta previews, blogs, videos and screenshots all over the internet? In a closed beta? What do they have to hide? Other then the last 10 levels, which I don't blame them for keeping since their NDA went out the window as soon as the betas started.

there will probably be a trial after release but iv heard allot of good news from beta testers so im not that worried

That's exactly what they are saying there will be: A Preview.

If people don't want to buy the game because they can't play it for free easily, I say good thing.... Culls the herd. Was that too harsh?

Edit: There's no reason to think they won't be a PREVIEW to download before launch for the public. All we have are hints really, so hang tight.

Well you are in luck. They just announced that they aren't going to have a traditional beta but they are going to offer previews. I'm pretty sure, as I am going to PAX, that I will have a chance like many others to try it. They will also be offering a chance for people to "preview" it at home. More info to come.

If i get more then 2 Closed Beta accounts i will give you maybe one. Don't start to cry, NCSoft have enough Reasons to not held a Open Beta here.

Given that advertising of Aion needed a jump start I think a traditional beta for NA/Euro would have been the better way to go.  I think this may be the first mistake NCSOFT has made with Aion up to this point.

I don't like this news.  I was looking forwward to AION kind of, but I had the fear that this would be a "Koren Grinder".  this, in  a way, just makes me think that more.  Why?

Well, hearing positive feedback from Korea (AKA the home of Korean grinders), hardly puts my mind at ease (except for the fact the game won't be buggy or incomplete).  I need to hear feedback from the West, where the hate on grinding is strong.

I don't really have any feelings one way or another but.  Let me ask the forums this.

Why is it that fans think it's a good thing for people to not play their game.

I see with every upcoming mmo "Ha at least we won't have wow gamers in this game".  Isn't that a... bad thing.  Games die without players... look at AA for example.

Thanks.   I can't wait to learn more.  This is really the 'do or die' moment for my (and possiby others) thoughts about buying the game or not.
