The guys from MMORPG.com attended this year's SOE block party where we walked away with a great look at SOE's upcoming made-for-kids MMO, Free Realms.

A Look at Free Realms MMORPG.com recently attended the SOE block party. While there, the guys got a first time demonstration of the made-for-kids (of all ages) MMO.

Sorry SOE, but this is about the dumbest idea I have seen so far.  Do you even realize how scary the net is these days.  Only absolute fools let kids play an internet game.  Talk about a paradise for child predators, you are certainly creating one.

And also because you had to look for an excuse to post something negative as it is apparantly against your nature to post anything positive about a game.

Letting your kid play an online game on the internet is no more dangerous then letting them play outside.

But there's this neighbor kid, 5 yrs old, addicted to Halo.  Are you telling me monsters play Halo?!

I let my son play MMORPG's since he was about 6. You think games are a more 'scary' place for kids to hang out than chat rooms?  I always made it clear that if an ogre wearing lipstick asks you to touch him in apropriately just call me.

Always though the way guildwars delivered itself was the way to do things.

There are quite a few mmo-like games for kids that seem to be doing well, and I can't recall too many scandals about any of them, so it's a good market to go into. Esepecially since SoE took their hardcore fanbase and told them to shove it time and time again. Can't wait till they do it to the kiddies :)

Also as is common knowledge to anyone most child assaults are done by people they know like their neighbours or family members.  So keep your kid away from Uncle Charlie and his frisky hands and not mmos, parents

The Family and Child MMO is a huge market.  WOW boasts to have 10 million subs while Runescape claims to have 11 million active players.  Think about that.  SOE will be offering to this market a game with WOW quality graphics and game play (and safety features like Runescape and Toon Town) with some combat  and mostly puzzles.  Heres the winning formula...   Its FREE to play.

I took a friend to SOE Fan Faire who does'nt play MMO's.  She saw the demo for Free Realm and was looking forward playing this with her daughter and young son.  They both play supervised MMO's for thier age and she has all the safety features hooked up to watch over them.  Email warnings and such.

I could be wrong but SOE may have a big hit on this one.
