i started playing back around dec.  i did see a lot of bots back then - in certain low lvl areas, but they seemed to have improved in cracking down on bots. 

currently, i rarely encounter bots, but that's probably because i don't play on the lower lvl maps much anymore, and also i afk a lot, so i can't comment on the state of the bot problem in general (note: if u r low lvl, u can't be pk'ed - which is why RMT bots farm the lower lvl maps). the economy hasn't blown up or had the type of massive inflation in asian versions of ge, but i don't know if that means bots have little effect, or the player base is still too low, or a combination of both.

Actually, currently X-Trap is blocking the 3 biggest known bots and we already have another patch in QA to take down a few more.
 

As much as people hate them (X-Trap) they are earning their keep currently.

Edit: Also we ban about 2000 accounts per day for botting and removed about 4-5 Billion vis per day from RMT and Fraudsters.

Yeah, you guys should try to re-distribute that vis to legitimate players.  That way players that cheat get screwed twice as bad.

No, they are bots. AFK players stand in one spot killing ... these run around killing and looting with names like Hgygsftedrsyt . 

Also, The One is notorious for Botting. So much so that they passed up the whole playerbase, they had experts just a couple days after it was introduced  ... and you can't do that unless you are active leveling 24/7 .. or botting.

If you want a solid F2P with a staff that cares I'd suggest Runes of Magic. It's in closed beta atm, but so far Frogster has shown they are 100% commited to their playerbase and the game.

Also, Neume .. I scoured my old PC for those screens .. sadly I think the kids deleted most of my files when I gave it to them. But, I'm sure I have a couple friends from the old SvS that have some. I'll email them and see if I can get a hit or two.

AFKers are easy to spot, since they aren't using skills or picking up stuff.

And while no, you don't exactly need to bot for experience, you can get a lot of loot that way. Especially in Fire Island, where chips drop.

And some characters like Jack/Angie and Catherine are pretty useless without using their skills.  You can powerlevel them, but they are often used for farming stuff since their real downside is their active play style.  Not many people can constantly keep up spamming skills to summon new dolls or build stuff. But bots can, and when they do so (which is quite common) they can really rake in exp and loot.

He is right, I was a closed Beta tester for this game, quit in december, came back in March quit in May. K2 does stuff that pisses people off, They give you a grind fest the likes of which has never been seen. I sware Lineage 2 is more casual than this. Sure you can AFK but WTF is the point of that in a GAME you are spose to be PLAYING if you can't enjoy the game PLAYING than it is not much of a game.  Furthermore the game mods dont do anything to help any of the problems, All of my friends were able to buy Vis by the millions and K2 never banned them, never even tracked them down. Some of them even botted and nothing ever happened to them, Seems to me like unless the players find the problem K2 does not do anything. The worse support I ever seen from a game, and some of the most bull crap mods ever, They tell you something about the game that is pure BS so you stay. The worse is where They still claim they have the BEST Free 2 play game out there, That is funny, because with games like Requiem and Runes of magic that have REAL questing and a NORMAL leveling curve (4 months-5 to MAX no stances and other + crap after max) This game is less than mediocre for free 2 play standards. The only real good thing about it is its graphics.I will NEVER say anything bad about the graphics or the music, Thus why I own the sound track and my wallpaper is SoTNW However I play superrior games.
