Be Warned
K2 run a ruthlessly controlled forum that hides issues if they make the game look a bit less than perfect.
Play but don’t pay.
I like being involved in the game community, but not this one. It’s just a marketing tool.

What proof do you have to backup your statement.. I'm a regular forum reader , and I never felt that k2 tried to hide anything from me. Keep in mind that when you joined the forums (sotwn forum) , and you created your account , you agreed with the "Terms and Conditions" ("We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary." ) , and also keep in mind that (this may sound clisheish) using a forum is a privilege and not a right. If they think the material (post/thread) is abusive , they reserve the right to remove it.
|
|
And if the material is not offensive or abusive and it addresses the issue of Bots and Goldfarmers ruining the game, and a lack of AMs in game to address / help players with issues? Whatever the Ts&Cs say about the forum, if it is being used as a marketing tool by K2 it is not a forum it's just a message board.

from what I know k2 doesn't let people post incriminating screenshots or conversations.. if this was the case... also maybe someone started calling names or flaming ... guess I seem to take their side now.. but I'm just trying to remain impartial.
"...make the game look a bit less than perfect." Well.. each game is imperfect in a way or other.. and every MMORPG has a problem with game botters , exploiters , abusers , hackers , scammmers. I repeat .. Every Game..

Are you sure you are not confused here. Do a search before posting and "MAYBE" we won't outright delete posts. There are a number of threads talking about EXACTLY what you were talking about in EVERY ONE of your posts. I know we are all delicate snowflakes but new topics should probably include... a new topic. Edit: My response is directed to the OP who had a very unfortunate event occur and never bothered to take the time to submit a ticket for us to help them. Website:

I've had a couple comments removed or locked on the official boards as well, so it's not exactly a new occurance. It's their boards, they can do what they want, I guess. http://my.lotro.com/character/landroval/galadthryth/ |

(This is following Byte1918s post, I could'nt figure out how to append it) That maybe so in other MMORPGs. But this is the first game I've played where those in control of the main forum repeatedly delete posts that call for extra help in game, to moderate a recognised problem. The posts called for extra AMs to be added. How can that possibly offend forum rules? If you message an AM in game, they are prepared to come to your location and investigate a bot or gold farmer. Unfortunately they are very rarely available. When a highly experienced goldfarmer is clearing an area full of new players and there is no AM support. Should the players just log out if they find it upsetting? Don't forget, to call for assistance in game you pay ( a lot for a beginner ) and to login in to the website and work your way through the Support Ticket system takes a lot of time and is also not beginner friendly, not withstanding that your not going to be playing the game while your 'assisting' K2 with the problem. Also, your not attended to with any priority (days) unless your a recent cash shop user. K2 need to add AMs or sort out the ingame report / support. They also need to cull Fanboi moderation as it is not helping the community grow. ps. they don't have this level of gold farming in Guildwars, but there they have a report system. |

Only issue I ever had with the forums was getting perma banned on my main forum account for descent and running a 3rd party website that was unmoderated where players were able to say what they felt. From time to time the Community manager at the time would request that I edit a post here and there to keep things a bit more balanced. Things were fine till I agreed with a poster and didnt edit a post she wanted, at that point I was informed my website would be removed from the SOTNW official forums, anyone posting about it would get it removed, and possibly action against their account, and my posts were then moderated by her. I was a regular poster on the site, helped folks, and of course spoke my opinion... being moderated... well... no more posts were "approved" positive or negative, I sent her a pm and said, well if your just going to not post anything I say, why not just ban me? And she did... Neume (Jmerix) over all was a good guy from what I could tell. He was in a shitty position as his bosses were incredibly out of touch with the player community, wouldnt communicate, wouldnt listen, and general just drove most of the players at the time away. Recently Neume seem's to have gotten promoted and is more in control of things, and from what I can tell has turned the game around... basically everything folks like me screamed over and quit due to back last november has been rectified. However, my forum accounts still banned, and that whole ordeal has left a rather bad taste in my mouth. I dont go around replying to every SOTNW thread giving my opinion anymore, but I may just try the game out again to see what all has changed.... and maybe the mods over there will finally decide to restore my forum status. |

Its attitude like this that has brought me back to the game. If you want coddling, and prettied up words then maybe you should look into AoC, apparenlty they only talk nice to their players and won;t say anything that may hurt thier feel bads
Now I can say that Neume is a rare breed, first how many AP's actually will post regarding ppl's concerns at all? How many AP's will attempt to have an open dialog with its players concerning upcoming changes. |

So poor and rude customer service is what draws you to the game? What, are you from NYC or something?

I was in closed beta, I pre ordered the "retail" version and played it until they went F2P. I came back in Jan. and ran 6 toons up to 110+ (Including 2 cath summoners and a viki). This company is by far one of the worst I've had the displeasure of dealing with in my twelve years of MMO gaming. They lie, cheat their player base, and do whatever they need to in order to make a quick $. K2 and Funcom should work together.
*Edit* Neume, did you go to the Erling Ellingson school of spin? |

In fact on a daily basis we compensate players who feel cheated or confused by events/promotions or updates. I don't have to try and 'spin' anything because I don't run around telling gross lies or exagerations. I try to stick to what is true and qualify statements when needed if it is too soon to tell. Perhaps you forget the hundreds of posts from players of Vespanola pleading with K2 to do something about The One and their constant botting before the servers were merged. I personally submitted screenshots via tickets, and even spoke with AM's in game about it (Caballero) and not one thing was done. In fact most posts were deleted, and the people posting were banned for a week. If that doesn't scream "OMG they are our largest source of income, no bans!" I don't know what does. Turning a blind eye to that kind of crap in a "PvP" game is just wrong on so many levels. It's no surprise I couldn't convince the higher ups at the Vault Network to put up a SotNW site ... even after I told them I would build it from the ground up on a "volunteer" basis (IE FREE).
*Edit* Oh and I forgot the AMs summoning raid bosses for The One and Celestial. I'll have to see if I can track down those screenshots and I'll be more than happy to post them here for you. |

Originally posted by Rebn77 That's fine and dandy but you are calling ME out. As for TheOne we have an EXTREMELY close eye on them and have already banned a number of their population (including leaders)and will continue to do so as we have several other large clans. So... And once again, we have firm proof that NO GM summoned any raid bosses that can drop loot. And the one that was summoned was despawned by the GM and was NO WHERE NEAR being killed. The mob was spawned so that we could capture evidence that there was a major bug with it. If you have screens to the contrary I would love to see them (preferably screens of the actual event happening not hearsay. So far the combat, chat and GM logs are against what you are saying). I am all for not liking the game or feeling let down by content or even being upset by the P2P->F2P change, we refunded several hundred thousand dollars to players that month. But please do have legitimate comments. 9 times out of 10 we try to correct any situation that we are made aware of. We have made many major strides since I took over leadership of the game. And I have and will continue to fight tooth and nail to correct wrongs and fix problems with the game, our service and our community. Website:

YMMV for harder problems, sometimes there is a delay since its IMC's game and the devs are way over in Korea. K2's methods for purchasing gold is too haphazard (and when i tried purchasing, sometimes buggy) - and if i don't feel secure, it makes me much more reluctant to start punching in my credit card numbers.... GW had a great interface where u could just purchase the items u want via the login screen. really, it should be seamless. purchasing gold should not visibly appear to go through 3rd parties, etc. (even if it really does). overall, my experience with K2 has been okay, but they can still improve. for a f2p game, it's pretty good, and i don't have to pay for content updates unlike GW. but if u want to be competitive and be ub3r - cash shop is the quickest way. blah blah blah blah blah |

hmm was going to give this game a try, but i refuse to play a game that does little to combat bots. What i hate most is when a company lets the bots get crazy out of control, then banns a bunch, says they fixed it, then dissapear untill they have to reban them all again. This happend with silkroad. Man they bragged about banning like 40k bots, "see we ARE doing something...ect" If they really did care they wouldnt have let 40k bots play for a year. Seems every f2p game is left out to die (international versions, the koreans take care of their home markets) by the distribution company staff, always pleading that they are understaffed and dont have the resources, despite their company pulls in masive loads of cash a month.
