I played Eve for about two weeks and I feel so bored with it.  I don't like the concept of driving a ship around space and mining all the time.  The pvp is very bland compared to many games.

                         Just My two cents

EDIT;  The graphics are amazing though

To each his own.

Eve is like that with most WoW players it seems. I tried it, couldnt get into it, seemed too bland also. But Eve is one of those Niche games, you either like it or you dont.

Currently restarting World of Warcraft :/

I can understand this viewpoint as there isn't much in the way of screensplashing rewards or bustling activity wherever you go.  One of the things that REALLY helped me getting into the game was to find a compatible corporation.  I'm very much into heavy roleplay and found a corporation there that really carries that spirit.  Mining and missions are okay, but they're secondary to the conversations and adventures we create.  If you want exciting PvP, more than likely you'll need an aggressive and wild PvP corporation to engage in the heavy duty stuff the game has to offer.  It takes a bit of getting into, but there is a rush when you're racing to outdamage your opponent before his buddies show up.

Granted, not everyone likes being a ship but that will change a bit once the Ambulation expansion hits.

As far as the pvp being bland compared to other games I think you are just way off base here. If anything Eve has the most exciting and non bland pvp out there. It's much more than "Oh I have all my cooldowns available and I will pwn anyone" or "Oh shit I dont have any cooldowns and now I am screwed by anyone who happens to run along"

I hardly beleive that 2 weeks is long enough to get a proper grasp on pvp in Eve. In the end though like the poster above said, Eve is a niche game and people either love it or hate it although alot of people start off not liking it and then come back a couple of times and then get hooked hard.

OMG...Of all the arguments you may have, you say the PVP is bland. I'd really love to see your idea of exciting then. EVE has (By a landslide) the best PVP I've ever seen.

Did you even play this game before starting this thread?

Wow...I guess to each his own (But seriously, someone tell me a game with better PVP)

Better PVP. Try any fps out there

(sorry, just had to. PVP is a bleeding joke in most mmo's)

On the contrary, I find that two weeks is enough to find out if you like the basic premise of EVE or not. If driving a spaceship around isn't your thing, then it's not your thing. EVE is about driving spaceships, and it certainly isn't for everyone.

I do have to point out that if you spent the whole two weeks mining, you've hardly experienced the most thrilling aspects of EVE.

Once ambulation hits the servers, we'll have actual avatars, so you might want to check back then for gameplay and concepts that might be more pleasing. When you do, I suggest trying out missions, manufacturing and perhaps a smidgen of PVP as well.

Combat is boring in EvE. I feel it takes more skill, tactics and knowledge/strategy. But the fact of "death" being a punishment is what makes it great to me. I will admit there are times where I just let my character train, while I try out some other MMOs or play some other multiplayer games, but EvE is one of the few games to me that feels like a real world.

I also feel that although there are pirates in the game, its system stops "griefers" that most Open PvP full loot MMOs face. It could also be a combination  of the mature community and it all being on one server, so reputation does carry weight.

Eve isn't for everyone.

I have a couple buddies that tried Eve and just couldnt wrap their heads around the complexities of Eve.

Its fine i dont give them a hardtime.

Tricking out space ships, tweaking skills, Slow but complex combat and severe death penalty arent for everyone.

PLaying: EvE, Ryzom

Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum

erm.... that wasn't the OP... that was a response by someone who it seems didn't quit EVE, but kept playing it despite their fiends not liking it.  your response doesn't make much sense to me.

Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.

WTF PVP experience can a 2 week old player have to overall judge EVE's PVP as bland?

EVE is NOT about instant gratification. No way can you experience what PVP has to offer with a 2 week old character.

Do EVE a favor and stick with WoW.

Just my 2 cents.

I find 2 weeks plenty of time becasue thats about what the free trial period is. If your game is really balnd in that 2 week period for most of the user base then it tends to not do as well as something that is easier to get into. The last time i played Eve i could even figure out how to get started as they kinda just tossed me out there and didnt really show me what to do at all.... Thats not the best way to make a game... I just find that Eve could be a whole lot better in many aspects...

I'm a huge Fan of Sci-fi and space stuff but Eve is just kind of bland compared to many other things out there. I wont say the PVP is boring as i never experienced it but as a game that charges a monthly fee it really shouldnt of been near as hard to start getting into.

The game simply isnt great for everyone plain and simple. I check back with a free trial now and then to see if anything has changed to see if it is easier to get into cuz i really wanna give it a try but when i cant figure out what to do in the first 5 minutes there is something wrong (Considering I've been playing MMORPG's since Meridian 59 was released originally (about a year before UO)

Issue is they need to be more clear in some areas and make some aspects of the game not so boring... Make planetary missions (where your an avatar etc) Its got some unique aspects but those are often overlooked because it comes off as very slow paced and boring to a whole lot of people (much like Entropia Universe in that aspect...)  I dont think they should necessarily Dumb it down but explaining thing a bit better helps alot when you have new players....

First off this comes off as pretty absurd. Just because someone doesnt like a game they should stick to WoW... Dont assume all MMO players play WoW.... Also..... Eve's Free Trial is 2 weeks.... If they cant manage to do something to get you interested in 2 weeks alot of people simply wont pay for it.... While its not about instant gratification it's not easy at all to slide into for a majority of people, I've been playing MMO's for just over a decade or so and played MUD's before that..... I've done slow paced games but they usually give you a reason to stay around be it free play or whatever.... Charging a monthly fee for Eve is where the problem lies.... People get 14 days to try it out and like i said if they dont find something to spark their interest in that time they simply usually wont pay that monthly fee... However monthly fees and slow paced gameplay keep alot of idiots out...

Dont act like a fanboy and make statements that sound like your trying to win an argument like your angry with the person. Actually look at it from a perspective other then your own and wrap your head around that.... Learning that not everyone has the same line of thinking that you do is an important aspect of an argument otherwise you just make yourself look foolish or simply that your an angry troll of some sorts...

My point here is that dont judge someone based on a 2 week experience if thats all they have in free play time to get a feel for the game and see if there is a reason for them to stay around...

You say that as if it were a bad thing. Eve is not aimed at the mass market (which is a huge understatement)

My point here is that dont judge someone based on a 2 week experience if thats all they have in free play time to get a feel for the game and see if there is a reason for them to stay around...

In two weeks you get a general feel of how some parts of the game feel like. Cold harsh world - check.
Economy - maybe check.
Giant nebulae in empty space - check.

If that doesn't get you interested, then eve won't be for you, plain and simple. Eve is a feature monster, even the legthy (and countless times reworked) tutorial (they even cut it in length and throw you into the action faster now) can't cover even a small part of it.

It's the only reason why eve is going so strong with so many die hard vets. They find something new everyday.
