Some new screens and info about the new battleground in wotlk. What we know is that the horde/alliance are split into attacking and defending forces. There are 4 tiers to the map (ie capture T1 before you can move onto T2). Siege weapons will be used throughout the battleground. Offensive weapons will be used by the attacking force to break through the defenses around each tier of the map, while the defending side will have their own weapons available. Each team progresses via controlling capture points on each tier. Some capture points allow access to different types of siege weaponry. Still some missing textures and no clue as the player numbers etc. |

That looks amazing, unlike the 2 flamers before me i see the feel of wotlk, it's not supposed to be a happy battlefield, did you want fireworks and massive sword falling on everyone? It looks like it totally fits the warcraft 3 story, i cant wait for it. WoTLK truely promices to revive this game if only for as long as BC did, i'm just suprised only one class was introduced. ----------------------------- |

It's a grind point for gear... doesn't matter to the world, changes nothing and in the end, will be a trivial affair. Just another grind hidden by window dressing, once you've gotten your gear... whose gonna go back?

They are hardly copying WAR. If that was the case it would be something more meaningfull than just for loot/gear. For thoes that still want to play WoW and have fun with it though, it looks good. Its there for more gear/item grind and thats fine, thats what WoW is about and some people enjoy that even if its not my cup of tea. So yea, for the WoW fans looks like you guys are getting some decent new content. |

But actually they did it - they copied Mythic's idea. Mythic announced their tier system like 2 years ago. We didn't hear about such system from Blizz until now. I don't tell that copying good ideas is bad, if it works, more power for Blizz. But c'mon, they at least could change names or count of tiers. This shows also, they Blizzard thinks, that WAR ideas are good, if they are trying to copy them (but I am afraid if it would work in WoW, we will see). |

This kind of warfare is the sort of stuff you'd expect to see in the Warcraft universe. I don't care who announced it two years ago or so, the only important thing is that Blizzard are making it, so it's going to be 5 times more polished than anything WAR will come up with. Remember WAR is still an unproven piece of marketware. Vanguard beta players claimed that game would be the second coming of Jesus, and look how that went... All bets are on Blizzard for having the best seige warefare, unless you're the kind to bet on the outsider. Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting... |

So tell me: if 2 games publish at the same time, with ONE system having already all these elements in it YEARS ago, how could WOW have copied the (warcraft 3) siege engines .... Blizzard works always YEARS in advance (it is NOT FUNCON you know). 8 years ago Death Knights were launched, 8 years ago siege engines could be played ... now they are in Wow. Despite the yelling of "Led Zeppelin" Paul. LOL 1 - 0 and no use to score because the referee just finished the match ! :)) |

Same way you copy scientific ideas from papers not published yet.... yes that's a crime. Same way you copy music and lyrics not published yet from someone else's unpublished score. The fact that a game copies from something else is fine. Blatently denying that fact is pretty fanboish. |

Yowzas...
First of all, Warcraft was suppose to be Warhammer, so there is a pretty good argument that WoW sort of copied WAR. But the argument that they copied WAR on parts of the pvp system is not really there. The system, if anything, is a bit more like how some FPS'es did it. These modes in both MMOs are a bit new for MMOs but not entirely innovative. |

Originally posted by Yaros WoW did battlegrounds well before WAR.. but lets not go there. The tier system is a well known PvP mechanic (Mythic did not invent this), there were tier systems in Unreal torney (an game made 8 years ago). Blizzard have done the CTF (WSG), Domination (Alteric), CTF/Domination (ES), Assasination (AV) .. the next logical step to offer a new game play mechanic is a tiered map. |

I don't argue about that, I just pointed tiered system with 4 tiers and 2 sides. That's I am a bit pissed about Vik's post - I wrote nothing about tanks, aircrafts or catapults, only about 2 sides/4 tiers - and he answered with some propaganda fanboi shit, which has nothing to do with my point. |
