do you click on a mob and press arrow key? can you press arrow key and it attack even if not targetting anything? it just swing the sword?

not sure if you can attack with no target (I only played at launch and did not sub)
should have directional attacks mapped to your hotbar, same for spells use hotkeys to attack or use your mouse to press the hotkeys |

Yup you only need to face the correct direction. There is an option where you can turn off the auto-facing where you automatically face your selected target. This is extremely helpful because melee attacks are cone based (can hit multiple mobs in front of you) and its best to always position yourself facing between 2-3 mobs. |
