The folks at Dark Age of Camelot have posted the notes from the game's most recent patch which sees the cleric and other support classes get a little love.

- These Cleric Smite Specialization spells have had their casting speed reduced from 3.5 seconds to 3.0 seconds. Additionally, a spreadheal effect has been added to the spell with a 1000 unit radius, centered on the caster. The power costs have been adjusted.

Level 10 - "Heavenly Strike" - 26 damage (Spirit) / 47 healing - 11 power
Level 20 - "Heavenly Blast" - 52 damage (Spirit) / 76 healing - 23 power
Level 30 - "Heavenly Bolt" - 78 damage (Spirit) / 106 healing - 36 power
Level 40 - "Heavenly Force" - 102 damage (Spirit) / 133 healing - 47 power
Level 50 - "Heavenly Detonation" - 128 damage (Spirit) / 162 healing - 60 power

- These Cleric Smite Specialization spells have had their recast timer reduced from 10 minutes to 5 minutes. Additionally, a level 27 version of this spell has been added, and the durations and power costs of these spells have been adjusted.

Now that is funny, four years after they destroyed the smite clerics they attempt to fix them some.  Isn't it a bit too late?  Your playerbase has fled and most of us do not want to go back and reroll a character so you can nerf it again.

The  constant unrelenting nerfs..is what made me quit.Mythic hears the complaints and ignores its customer base and wonders why no one will pay for whats left.I have never seen a less customer oriented company.

So the fact Mythic is 1 of 2 companies to create a classic server upon customer request isn't justifiable enough? No ones perfect when it comes to balance and remember, 3 realms, 6-8 races, 8+ classes is a lot to balance.

Smite Clerics were overpowered and its easier to fix 1 class, than to adjust 23 others. I just wish Funcom would listen to their customers about their healers being overpowered, but they will probably take 4 years to fix it too.

"Smite Clerics were overpowered "

So were beserkers, etc and did the fix them no, they destroyed them with over whelming nerfs.  The necromancer class was useless in a pvp environment did they do anything to help them, nope.

I could go on and on, but most of us just got tired of over reaction or no action by Mythic.  They dug the hole and yes they have made some concessions recently.  But DAoC is beyond fixing, what is the point of having all those expansions, only to go back and ignore them to play a classic server.  If they had just fixed the game it would be half decent by now, they can't make up their mind what they are doing.

Fine with me and many others.  DAoC is dead because it is a mess they just keep making messier.

Guess we will have to wait for War to see if they have learned anything.

No, it isn't.

Is it meritorious? Yes. And even then it wasn't a request, it was done due to a credible threat of boycott that they finally capitulated and put one up. They realize that they're on the cutting edge of the razor's edge-of-closure.

It was simply too little too late in my opinion.

*Excellent* game for its time. God knows I spent hundreds of hours playing it. But I finally bailed when they started over-using the nerf bat... *sniffle* Celtic Dragons... I miss you guys!
