Cousin signed up for beta last sunday, and checked his mail for the first time today and got an invite at some point this week. I mean, me personally id rather test a game just before it launches for week maybe two, that's just how I am, but there are several people on this forum and others who have been amazingly huge fanbois, been on beta applied status for ages and newsletter and have yet to see an invite.Someone like my cousin comes along, clicks apply and 1-2 days later gets in?.

The folks at EA beta center need to start letting priority members in, just for the sake of showing those who have been followers a little satisfaction. To give you a heads up also, my cousin is an avid wow fanboi ( by avid I mean completely devoted to blizzard) and his only intention, as he told me over the phone while bragging like an 11 year old nerd, was to get in and see how bad the game was. He has no friggin intention on playing the game at launch or even read up on the game, he only knows that " it's trying to copy wow,durr". I am just happy I bought the CE, I can wait till then, but for those of you who didn't and are much more of a drooling follower than myself, I am sorry :(.

What kind of computer does your cousin have?

The whole process is supposed to be random I believe. It's just that people that are vet news letter subscribers have a higher chance, but again it's only a chance.

thats how random things work.  they don't need to let fanbois in, they have no way to connect your forum account here with your beta signup on their site, and doing it by hand would be a horrible use of manpower.  I've been signed up for a long time and haven't been chosen, but thats just how things are.

Every game chooses differently for their beta subscribers, what does help is history of previouse games you have been in the beta for and also if your part of large communities. Games also offer guild passes that allow entire guilds to come over and join in the beta. What is really hard to get in though is the Alphas because they don't want spies or people who will go and break the agreements like showing screenshots of a game in Alpha is Huge and will get you kicked out.

As far as I know its all on a random basis. I was a long time subscriber to their newsletter and I had the pre-order CE code and I still only got in earlier this month.

Mythic needs to rewrite their Beta signup routine. And/or fire whomever is in charge of it.

They are letting in people who give a rat's arse about the game left and right, and they only have so many spots right now in the closed beta. Wouldn't the SMART thing be to let people in who care about the game and report bugs, and not just play it and then badmouth on forums?

I could personally care less WHO gets the invites, as long as those people using up slots and server resources are helping to make the game BETTER.

WoW and AoC fanbois are not they.
