Why do posters on the OBoard feel the need to preface threads asking for input about what could improve the current game, with statements like "please do NOT post "roll back" or "NGE Reversal" or "Pre-CU" or anything thereof cause it's been stated NOT GOING TO HAPPEN"? More importantly, why are said threads still filled with people asking for the old game back? It's a real head scratcher...

Ah my favorite brain soup: cream of no where. What''s the matter kid, don''t you like clowns? |
If the current game is so good.... Why is WOW killing it? Why does the Sony team play WOW? Why does Sony STILL try to silence the vets? Why was most of the Dev team "downsized"? Why are the current players so bitter? Why do other MMORPG companies look at the NGE as a "Text Example of how *not* to run an online game"? Why is there no expansion planned for the new "Clone Wars" movie?

This comes from the same line of thought that spun the last expansion that was in production being canceled as good for the game because they had decided to focus on fixing the existing game before thingking about expansions. Just because the entire expansion team was fired, moved to the DCUO project, or used to replace devs from the live team, meaning there was no increase in the number of developers working on the live game as a result of the expansion being scrapped, doesn't mean they lied about the reason the expansion was canceled, and that the game will never see another expansion. It was for the good of the game, and proof that SOE is focused on doing what their customers want! If you believe any of that, I have a really nice bridge available, at a very reasonable price...

To be fair, WoW still kills everyone on the MMO market. Even AoC was a paper tiger. As for the referenced official forum thread... nothing different from what we've seen before in the NGE era of SWG. SOE won't budge on any concession whatsoever for a rollback or even a Pre-CU server. They'll also never make crafting as useful as it was Pre-CU, since it would piss off what players they have left who lived off of the Loot / Reward based economy. A shame really, since SWG still has the best crafting system out there. The NGE'ers want the game to improve, but it's not going to happen because nothing will change in the end. SOE's too proud to admit and makeup for their failures and horrid mistakes. Some Vets will never come back even if there were Pre-CU servers to magically pop up. Something about reputation methinks. So the game will just continue to hover around in a near-coma state. |

How is it people are still asking these questions? How long has it been since SOE disbanded this games core development ? As for current players asking for improvements ,Nothing new here . They ask for beef flavoring , SOE tosses them plain rawhide . Same cycle as always. |

This part irks me, most of them admitted to playing WoW, maybe because they DO play wow or they just want the players to think that they're cool and want to play a game they develop for a publicity stunt (which isn't a good one if you ask me).

The overall problem is that vets seems to think that EVERYONE that plays the game currently thinks it is better then pre CU/NGE. In reality, most of those that play the game now aren't really trying to make that arguement, they are simply trying to say that they enjoy the game. Addidtionaly at this point they probably just want to be able to enjoy in peace. The population is low, the people that play it know that. The game is not like pre CU/NGE. They know that as well. That doesn't mean that some players can't enjoy it in its present form. Very few people are trying to make the arguement that SWG should be winning MMO of the year every year for now and forver but thats the way the vets try to make it out. |

I think it depends on the vet you talk with and the type of person they are. I am a vet and I won't flame anyone unless they are rude. I think the current game still has flaws that can be fixed easily such as the target system or loos ends in the quests system. But as far as I am concerned I think Dead Meat did a good job with the post NGE product. I just despise how Lucas Arts ignores the current game and will not allow classic servers. But I think the game is better off system wise since the release of the NGE. I do think server merges are needed. And as a consumer I don't trust SOE or Lucas Arts because of the NGE. But IO always enjoy a peaceful discussion |

I'm sorry, but I'll have to disagree with the whole "it makes the team more agile" statement because that just simply isn't true. When you downsize, what you're really doing, is lumping in all the work of those workers who were fired, to the workers who are kept. So in essence, they're making their jobs A LOT harder to do, since now, each worker now has to do the work of 5 of the people who were fired (I'm using 5 as an example, it could be that each developer could be doing the work of 10 of the fired developers, or it could be 3, I don't know). |
