There is your troll award Concerning the op they will not make a wow2 because that would be stealing players from their main game, a eve like mmo with starcraft lore could be an option because making a wow like would make blizzard look lazy and there arn't many decent space mmos atm. And a Diablo mmo sounds vry stupid, realeasing it after diablo 3 would just be too much diablo for a crowd that's use to see a new blizzard game come out every 5 years. Honestly I'm not real amped about a Starcraft MMO. The lore and monsters just don't strike me as something that would adapt well. "Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice." ~Greys Law |

I was sceptical towards those who thought the next MMO from blizzard would be based on the Diablo lore, with D3 announced I really can't see why some still believe this? The Diablo setting is a fantasy one afterall and it would be hard to distinguish from WoW, with D3 to be released it just makes it ever more so unlikely to happen. I think Starcraft Universe is the most likely option, although I can see why some think it wouldn't translate well into a MMO. That being said I think that Blizzard if anyone could pull it through, I wouldn't be surprised to see two player factions, the protoss and terrans. That would leave plenty of PvP possibilities, yet both would have a common enemy, the zerg. There's also lots of other factions that could be made into content, for instance terran rebels and rogue protoss. I can easily see Blizzard expanding their arsenal of critters into fully fledged monsters. Main question for me would be wether it'd be skill based or a FPS, knowing Blizz I think they'd go skillbased but from what we've seen so far skillbased shooters can be quite booring. Possibly we could see a hybrid between the two, like in Hellgate. I found it to be quite an enjoyable way of doing things. - The two other options in my mind for Blizz new MMO would be WoW II or something outside of Blizzard's IP. A far out and crazy idea would be a game based on 'Lost Vikings', but that's not very likely to happen. |

I just hope whatever they deliver isn't another tongue-in-cheek, easy-mode, quest-driven crapfest like WOW. With WOW, they truly made a silk purse out of a pig's ear. If only they had put that polish and effort into a more serious fantasy world with more freedom and with consequences for dying. Many would be in the game now instead of on these boards. |

Does anyone else think that maybe, just maybe, it could possibly be an original IP and not based off one of their previous series'? I mean, its been a while since they've done anything -new- aside from sequals and expansions, its about time. |

I agree...but I really hope that it is in a fantasy setting. I mean what happens once WoW starts to get old for the majority? They are going to have all these bored people...other companies coming out with new and more interesting fantasy MMOs...and they'll be stuck with WoW. I hope that their secret MMO is a next gen FANTASY MMORPG. Played: Runescape, World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning |

If it's an existing IP I personally think it would be Diablo based. The only reason I think this is because they released WoW right after Warcraft III, and they were both in development at the same time. So now Diablo III is in development as well as a secret MMO. I think it's more likely to be a completely new IP, hopefully not fantasy, because that would be a poor decision on Blizzards part. If WoW was getting old and losing steam like the previous post suggests (which it isn't even close to) then a new fantasy MMO from Blizzard would be the killing blow and most of the WoW kiddies would leave anyway, simply because it's not WoW. It's got to be something different, they need to cover as many genres as possible so they can hold a monopoly on the MMO business. |

Fair enough, those games had a few advantages over WoW but I consider myself today a reformed gamer. Heavy PvP consequences does restrict the availability of PvP, there'll be less quantity of it and for that sake not saying more quality. Main problem with WoW was the grind IMO, because the grind in WoW was never fun or interesting. You always have the feeling that you can't play the game until you reach max level or have farmed X ammounts of honor, unlike in games like Everquest where some people never hit the max level and yet were enjoying themselves. Wow PvE is the best PvE content I've ever experienced, however they made it ridiculously hard to access. It's just now that they've lowered the difficulty of encounters and in WOTLK most raid instances will be 10man, possibly Arthas (when his content is released) will be 25. |

I couldnt agree with your post more folks dont play games because they want a second job , planetside has the best pvp i know of for a mmo because there is no risks only rewards and levels really dont mean much as far as being able to jump right in to battle, counterstrike was the most popular fps for a reason the pvp was awsome and fun and again no risk just rewards . i was one as well who thought the journey was more fun then the end in pve games but sadly everyone rushes to top to be able to get the very best stuff and say what you like but quest based games kill a mmo because noone can stay the same levels and do same quests unless one person is restricting themselves. Everquest was so much funbecause back then before quest based games quests were just a side item of the game the real game was grouping and grinding and dungion crawling. Some lead and some follow I prefer to stand beside! |

( the meeting was not about the game, it was about the starting procedures of starting a company with an original IP). but a starcraft mmo would make me cream my pants in all honesty. considering the massive amount of money they made from Wow, i wouldnt be surprised. even if its a starcraft mmo, and its sales blow out WoW's, its still blizzard so they make a killing. |

Sorry nothing troll about it, it is my honest opinion. Starcraft is one of the worst designs and idea Blizzard ever made, at there actually was quite a few bad reviews of thte first game when it was launched. I do understand that many people here like the game, so maybe they will make their new mmo in that spirit, Even McCain had some publicity despite his failure, so why not a blizzard game.h I hope though, that they will come up with some new original IP. Its time for some innovation. |

I'm guessing the secret MMO will be fantasy so as to give the WOW fanbase something to jump to as WOW grows long in the tooth and winds down. WOW is popular, but cannot hold its popularity forever. No matter how polished or how many expansions they come out with, to the veteran player, the beaten path is still the beaten path. I'd guess about 3 years to see this new release. By that time, even the fanbois will have had their fill of Azeroth. |
