"If you warn me about global warming once more, you''ll get a swift carbon footprint in the ass!"

I'm talking mainly about the game manual and map included with the software.  Whenever I buy an MMO, I look forward to these two items as much as I do to loading the software into my computer.  And lately, it seems like these two items have been lacking in the games I played.  AoC didn't even have a map included with the box.  I was very disappointed with that.  I know there was a map within the game itself, but I like having a detailed map I can hold in my hands and study without having to be logged onto the game.

The game I played previous to that, Vanguard, had a decent map (although the world was pretty empty at launch), but I thought the game manual was lacking.  I know the devs really rushed to get this game released on time, and unfortunately, the manual really reflected this.  It looked like it was hastily put together with very little information about the game provided.  It sounds like the game has really improved since launch, but that doesn't change the fact that I really look closely at the extras in the game to see how good they are.  That usually gives me a hint about whether the game will be good or not.

I guess it depends what game.  Most games come in with a game manual though. Just says the controls, interface ect.. Nothing you can't find on the main site of the game.

I'm talking about a lot more than just the interface controls.  I like to see pretty lengthy descriptions of the playable races, classes, etc.  I also think the manual is a golden opportunity for the devs to introduce gamers to the lore of the MMO.  Why more companies don't take advantage of this is beyond me.
