Out of curiousity what is more important to you? When you buy an MMO do you want a great game or a great world? Let me clarify since thats a broad question. Game: Gameplay. The mechanics of the game, the flow of combat, crafting, aquisition of gear, leveling or skills...basically everything that the developers are in direct control of and equates to mathmatical values and coding. World: Envirenments. The architecture, the landscapes, the visuals. The ability to essentially "live" in this alternate reality. Roleplaying, the ability to own a piece of said world or alter it, and stuff like city building. A sandbox basically.. I am not saying you can not have a little of both in a game or even a balance. You may like them both evenly or wish to see them both fleshed out perfectly in your ideal game. What the question is, given the choice between one or the other. What would you choose?

I guess I would have to say game, I greatly like everything that makes a sandbox it makes games vastly more fun but... If the game's gameplay is lacking, combat is slow and dull, too much grind, too hierarchal, raiding or just generally dull gameplay, all the factors of a sandbox does not matter much any more as the core game is boring. So I would really like the sandbox elements, but the core game has to interesting first before I can play it. |

I am in it for the tactics. Graphics are secondary. Not only do I enjoy the tactics, but I believe that a more mature crowd is more likely to be found in a game which focuses on tactics more than graphics. Kids like to play arcade games and adults like to play chess. My chances of finding more interesting gamers has to coincide with the ratio of mature gamers. If I was in it for the graphics I think I would be watching an anime movie right now rather than typing on this forum. |
