First of all, if u dont like the game plz dont bother to post under this thread.

What can we do to help improve the servers population? Posting on these forums can only do so much to inform people of this game. I imagine that the devs are planning something but we should also try to.

So far the only thing I see hurting this game is the lack of people playing it. I'm on the pvp server and for me to switch to a pve server would be nearly impossible.

Besides word of mouth, what can we do?

As players I don't see much beyond word of mouth that we can do, the next step needs to be taken by SoE in the form of advertising and trial accounts.

Don't underestimate the power of word of mouth though, it is a very powerful tool.

Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do.

"I have opinions of my own --strong opinions-- but I don''t always agree with them." (=BUSH=)

Maybe we can all make some Veoh videos (way better quality than youtube) to show off how fun it is to play, and post your experience and your happiness about the game. You can offer to give each player a little coin or perhaps an item if they join,  you ear and words of experience, as well as some links to various ACTIVE VG sites and forums. I think you should only post in relevant forums, and forums you are active on. Having one post count in a forum would just mean you were advertising, and it is really bad taste to spam and run.

Make sure to showcase the different spheres over all else, as that is what I believe to be the most differentiating mechanic of VG from other games.

Worst we can do is tell people how much better VG is than another game, that just brings up fights and bad publicity. Second worst thing is probably not mentioning the computer's strength that is needed to play. Make sure to tell everyone that if you don't have an 8000 series or higher card that you shouldn't expect playable (at least competitive) graphics. Otherwise I can see a lot of people with 6000 or 7000 series cards complaining on the thread, thus ruining the whole point.

Anyone have any other thoughts?

If you stare into the Abyss long enough the Abyss stares back at you. - Friedrich Nietzsche

Nothing.  It is not our responsibility to promote the game.

I question the motives of any "player" who tries to promote the game.  This is shilling, imho.  I'll offer my opinion of the game in a game forum, but thats it.  Once you start posting "Give VG a try!" in other forums, then you stop being a gamer, and start becoming a salesman.

Word of mouth is a powerful force.  If the game is good, it will gather more players based on its own merits, and not from unsolicited cheerleading.

Why would you not want to tell people what game you like to play? There's nothing wrong with it, as long as I said before, that you're already active in that forum, and not just  spam and run. If you had a baby, you wouldn't tell anyone because then it would look like you're an orphange? Doesn't make sense to me.

Much less, why do you post in a forum, because that makes you a journalist... what you posted made no sense what so ever.

People that like something tell other people... it's done all over. Just because you tell someone you like it doesn't mean you should get paid for it, or expect some sort of medal or award. Maybe some of us just want to promote this game a little, so maybe we can find some new friends, or that maybe we can feel the market alive. It has nothing to do with not being a 'gamer'. Such stupid titles were made up by someone needing to differentiate themselves from others in good and bad ways, and I believe any titles shouldn't be used.

Outside of the game ? Not much i guess. In-game the community is quite good, because only fans are playing.

PvP wise i think it probably should change to what once was the team-PvP server. But thats something only SOE can do...
