Tried WoW, but was way too easy. Tried EQ2, and it just didn't draw me in. Played runescape for a while, then I got bored of it. I've done some light reading on this game, and it seems like it will be a blast. I'm looking for something that is HEAVILY group oriented and centers around working with a team, all of the time. IMO, that is the fun part of an MMO to me. From those who claim to have played in beta, it seems that Mythic is putting FUN back into the MMORPG genre. Is this for me? Again, heavily group oriented. I'm not much of a solo quester.

You can either agree with me or be wrong!

Wrong game imo. Try FF11 if you want heavily group oriented.

My dog ate your homework.

From what I hear how 8v8 RvR groups in DAoC functioned I suppose you'll be able to create your close knit elite group of RvR-ers that will be able to take out much larger groups... maybe.

In addition there is guild leveling with some quite substantial benefits to it as well... however it seems that banner buffs will largely benefit all members of your faction that happen to be near. So... you can be uber by actually helping others that aren't as cool as you.

So, will this game reward group play? Yes.

Is group play required to experience the majority of content and be competitive? No.

Forced grouping? Mostly no. The majority of reward systems seem to work on per-contribution basis (essentially more aggro - better rewards) so you'll get your renown and PQ influence by simply dpsing or healing even when solo in a crowd.

/to add

Though I still have some reservations about the game (mainly on the influence of instanced BGs on open world PvP population and faction balance with just 2 sides) imo Mythic has some things done almost perfect, at least on the conceptual level. The strong points of the game are definitely the casual/hardcore and solo/group mechanics and balance.

I just love the way guild banners benefit everybody so it'll be in your interest to help other guilds protect their banners and keeps. Everybody on the same side and yet enough room for friendly rivalry and drama. Perfect!

Viggor-Proud Adept of WAR for Darklore

I hate forced grouping myself. I think this feature is out in alot of games. But yeah in PVP you will probably want to be in a group to get heals and buffs and such. But I wouldn't call the game heavily group oriented its meant to be more casual pick it up do some quests or pvp and log off.

Yeah FFXI would be your game after level 14 or so you HAVE to have a group to even level. Thats why I hated it lol.

Yup, play FFXI...although some classes can solo if you know what ur doing and can afford the better gear!  After lvls 1-10 the game is pretty much group forced if you want the best XP, and proceed in levels faster!

Well, I guess I should rephrase what I said because "heavily group oriented" sounds a bit much. I mean will this game offer groups all of the time? I know that I can't depend on people all of the time to be on (not 24/7 because I have a life= college and work so I mainly log on at night; when the weekends hit I'm on for sure). Are the solo quests better than WoW or EQ2 solo quests? I don't mind this for leveling purposes, but like I said, the real fun starts when I'm grouped with other people trying to accomplish a goal.

There won't be any forced grouping for anything but the Scenarios, but many aspects of the Public Quests, RvR Areas, Keeps & City Sieges; groups will benefit the most!  Dungeons also will more than likely require a group to beat....no word on if you'll be able to go back and solo them later or help a friend through them duo though.

No one but beta testers know right now how "easy" quests are. One thing you should know though is that you can level from 1 to max (40) doing nothing but pvp. If thats the path you choose then groups are your best bet for sure.

Well, I'm very much interested in this game. I'm not sure what the game will be like at launch so I'll probably sit this one out until most of the bugs are taken out at launch. I don't want to fall to "AoC hype" if you know what I mean. I'm not saying AoC isn't a bad game, but at the same time I don't want to have such high expectations that when I do get the game I am disappointed. Until then, I am headed off into the realm of FFXI.
