I sure hope not.
GameGuard is the biggest failure in security i've ever seen, and hey, it even manages to create conflicts with every piece of legitimate software and hardware of your computer!
blergh! |

The Aion client used GG in CBT1 and CBT2. Probably will in CBT3 and release. Although I love Aion, I hate GG and think it's shit too. But it won't stop me from playing the game. NCsoft isn't going to rely on GG to stop botting, they're going to take a much more active role in killing bots in Aion compared to L2 regardless. |

Bots wont be much of a problem like in Lineage 2. With Lineage 2 the source code of the game was stolen before release and it spreaded. Thats why it was so easy to make very complex BOT software for it and we saw all the train botting, private servers and all the bad things. Im not even worried about Aion. |

what's the point of even putting in game guard. That thing is useless. WoW did fine without it, and almost every other non korean game that don't use it does alright. Not like games that use game guard actually have less bots anyway. |

are you guys sure that gameguard is made to stop bots? One would think no game would ever use it again if it was its sole purpose. |

I always thought it was protection from keyloggers TBH.

Guys, gameguard is not there to "stop bots" per se. It is just a deterent for certain 3rd party software as well as to make it so that the choices for creating methods of interfacing with the client narrowed. I do believe wow used a similar type of software though I don't know if it is there own creating or from a another company. I seem to remember a thread on this site talking about it. |

Man please close this thread. This isn't important at all, it's going about the Game. And nobody uses Bots! Otherwise it sucks. Thanks. |

Hello,
nProtect GameGuard is a game security program that can defend from game hack or hacking attempt at client end. Gameguard also blocks out WPE programs along with the macros in the logitech game keyboards. I can get more in depth on how exactly GameGuard works, but wikipedia and other sources are a great learning experience for others who are curious as to how things work. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Waiting for: Aion |

in theorie gameguard is nice in gametime its a worthless piece of junk tho, it just causes lag, chrashes, glitches and worse while it doesnt have a single effect on what it is supposed to effect (macro's, bots etc) |

Im not a fan of Gameguard either in all honesty, some previous games I've played have used it and it causes my MERC gaming keyboard software to crash and basically renders the gaming side of it useless. At times its caused the entire keyboard to stop working altogether and I have to reboot to get it to work again. Im all for companies stopping cheating, hacking and exploiting in games, but they should at least make sure that genuine players can access the game without issues. |

The actual versions of gameguard I've tested on certain recently released F2P korean games seemed way more stable than the previous versions, I don't know about this too much, but I'd just say let's wait and see. So far there aren't any report about gameguard's behavior in Aion from the Korean testers that we know of. |
