I have not seen too much videos. and what i have seen i was not too impressed with. But the one main MMO killer for me is if it is an easy, hand holding, care bear game. I want to know if WAR will be difficult to level and survive, and mobs will actaully be challenging to kill. I like games like EVE and FFXI. If this is another WoW then im not interested. |

First, I find it funny you talk of carebear ways and then bring up PvE aspects of a game. To awnser your question though... You need to understand the aspect of RvR. Someone more experianced with it than I am can explain much better than I so I will leave it to them. As to how fast you will level....only beta testers can awnser that. I doubt its going to take as long as alot of old school MMO's but I doubt you will have max levels within a couple weeks of launch like the most recent MMO. There is plenty of PvE in WAR and all we know so far is they say every class can solo well enough. I really dont know how to awnser your question because overall, it makes no sense. Cant call any PvE anything other than carebear. Its typically what Carebear is, someone who PvE's and hates PvP. Anywho, as far as PvP goes, its as hard as your oponent. If you run up against me, yea its gonna be easy at least to start :) PvE wise, check back when the NDA is lifted. |

Well. Maybe i phrased something wrong. I am not against PvP in any way. But i dont think that PvE should be disgustingly easy. I enjoy PvP a lot, but i dont think it should be the main focus of any game. I dont like that in WoW, a casual player can be 70 and do it all solo. It supports bad communitys imo. onto PvP. I like PVP systems like EVE or UO, or even a 2d game called Tibia that i played for a few years. PvP looting, exp loss, and massive death tolls for both PvP and PvE. I think it adds challenge and also makes the game more in depth. and brings together a better community.
Sorry for the confusion though. |

Why So Serious? |
This is not a hard core game...its all about fast & fun. If yuo love Eve & UO PvP (unless your flexible) you definitly won't like WAR RvR pvp...as for PvE I can't really comment that'd be breaking the NDA, lets just say they've stayed true to their grouping isn't a priority in PvE. Their whole premise for PQ's was for people to work together without being forced into groups...that kinda goes for the whole PvE game except for dungeons where they already stated the most you'll need is 1 full group. The biggest challenges will only come from RvR...there's no massive penalities for dying, you can't loot directly from people, you can't grief lower levels, etc etc. Its a game meant to entertain not frustrate people. They want there to be lots of constant PvPing...so you won't have the penalities of a hardcore game it defeats the purpose of the game being about a war going on.
btw i dont think massive penalities brings together a community..it brings together guilds..not the community. It never helped anyone in UO except guilds and the same goes for EvE. Community to me is about the whole realm working together for a common goal...kinda hard to work together if people are scared to go out and die in the name of their Realm. |

My dog ate your homework. |
Well the game's core reward philosophy is that it is contribution based. The harder the challenge and the greater your contribution to it the better the reward, obviously.. However the catch is that in most cases it is YOU determining the degree of a challenge. For example, PvE Public Quests. Upon completion a limited number of rewards are distributed to contributing players. You can do the same PQ in two ways: a) yell for everybody to come over and help - you'll be sure the PQ gets completed but your chances of getting that top reward will be diminished. b) you and your few leet pals can try to "solo" the quest. If you're successful you'll certainly get the top rewards. Another example is the Tome of Knowledge unlocks. Along with the "kill 50 dwarves" grindy achievements everybody can accomplish given enough time, I'm sure there are going to be some extremely hard ones as well.. Such as "land 20 killing blows without being killed once" or "have your guild defend a keep for more than 24 hours" or maybe even "kill the boss so-and-so in a less than 6-man group". Although WAR is aimed squarely at casuals, like elvenangel said, I'm sure there are going to be some pretty hardcore things to strive for as well... |

Google "MMORPGMaker" if you want to make your own MMORPG. |

The reason I didn't like WoW and didn't play it, was the grouping game sucked pre-raiding. Basically, I don't play MMORPGs solo. I find completing quests solo to be utterly boring in an MMORPG. I really liked DAoC for it's grouping game in PvE.

No they want people to group up . They are using PQs as a way to get solo people used ot working with others on a common goal without forcing them to be in a group. |

If you don't like it don't play. Every MMO that has come out that has sacrificed good looks for gameplay has sunk like a meaty turd. If you like games like EVE, then go play it. This is a PVP/RVR game, not an endless leveling MMO. The goal is to get to max level ASAP and kick the shit out of your opponent forever. |
