Even better yet, it's 3 weeks since launch and nothing has been changed with the PvP aspect of the game. Seriously, how did this game ever pass beta? I can't believe how null and boring this game is simply because theres no penalty and no purpose to PvP. Thats like releasing EverQuest without any quests implemented... I can't take it anymore, need to stop paying for this crap. Good Luck AoC fans |

Ask that question to just about any other PVP game released since 2003. |

And how many games qualify for that statistic? 1 or maybe 2? If your looking for a history lesson on PvP games, try Asheron's Call, Dark Age of Camelot and Eve Online. PvP has existed in games for a long time now, implemented at launch. Yet we have a game thats so @#%!ed up in terms of pointless and unbalanced PvP that it blows my mind it ever got out of beta. WoW PvP was more eventful at launch then this and that's not saying a lot since WoW PvP sucked too. Too many broken quests, too many broken mechanics and now the constant 9800 mS zone-wide disconnects every 15-30 minutes... wow, that's what I call a smooth launch. That doesn't even include the fact that PvP isn't even implemented. If WAR launches like this, I'm going to throw my computer out the window and pray it lands on some game developers head. I don't know why we accept this garbage for quality product. |

Originally posted by Malickiebloo I agree , thats why I have such high hopes for WAR. I was looking forward to the pvp in AoC, but it has ended up a gankfest with no purpose at all. Hope they work it out for the people who are hardcore about this game , but I'm about done until they give it a serious overhaul. |

It launched because it's an MMO, and even a "PvP MMO" is a PvE game first and foremost. |

Does AoC even have PvP Ranks or Titles? Or Guild PvP system yet? How is Borderlands? Are there any mechanics to stop instance hopping? or Rez camping? Legit questions, hope someone can answer please. |

76 hours a week? That would amount to 11 hours of gaming per day, for one game. No way I would want to do that, I get bored after 5 hours in a row.
As for the original topic, I stuck to PvE servers precisely because I heard all the rumours about gankers taking over each and every PvP server, sometimes with large guilds locking down higher-level areas, thereby barring people from levelling up.
Reasons to PvP? None as far as I can see. And this coming from someone just off Pirates of the Burning Sea, where the PvP is not only meaningless, but also carries such an insanely high death penalty (some of those ships require millions of doubloons) that the devs have just decided to soften up with an insurance system.
Most meaningful game as far as PvP is concerned? Of those that I played, I'd say Shadowbane. I'm not a fan of it, mind you, but at least you stood up to lose your town if the enemy stayed alive. The problem there was what you would expect from any PvP-heavy game: Lack of PvE content yet a constant need to grind, and gankers just running the show and driving everybody off.
My main beef with AoC at this point is this: Small guilds are not only irrelevant, but are essentially blocked from playing a few interesting parts of the game. I'm thinking about guild villages, which your guild needs to have 24 members or more to obtain. I don't think I have ever been in a guild with over 20 members, including deadwood, in any game. When you get larger, you lose the intimacy -- and by this, I don't mean acting like closed cliques who don't recruit. By all means, recruit, but take your time, get to know people, etc. To suddenly find myself courted by guilds of 100 and more, in a game where instanced siege fights are supposedly going to be maxed at 48 for each side, is a bit debilitating. If that doesn't work out, this might very well turn into one of the reasons why I might quit the game. |
