Reports are filing into several newsdesks now from former Lucas Arts employees that the Bioware / LA mmo is KOTOR 3.

I just want to take this opportunity to remind the good folks here who flamed me, called me a liar, and worse that I was the one who reported this years ago.

Here was the last post of mine from another site...

http://www.rlmmo.com/viewtopic.php?t=5582

Maybe now when I report something people will give me the benefit of the doubt.

Like Ive posted before, Bioware and LA started work on the next Star Wars MMO since December 2005 (right after the NGE). They are in a race to get the MMO out to take advantage of marketing the television show.

I still recall the stinging comments when I reported that my brother-in-law scored an interview with Bioware and that he was told the MMO was star wars themed. "Oh they would never tell what the project was" type comments.

When a friend and I did some dumpster diving and found conceptual art renderings at Bioware's Austin studio I was asked to scan /post pics or I was lying. Didnt matter that I had received a letter from Bioware's inhouse Legal team threatening legal action if I showed Bioware's project online.

Anyway its now pretty much confirmed by several bitter ex-employees that Bioware's MMO is based on the Star Wars universe. LA has decided to follow many US corporations and outsource their labor to India and China so they can pay slave wages.

It will be interesting to guage what the current SWG gamers will think of this news. Anyone with an account post this over there please. Im signing up for the vet trial if its still around and gonna spread the word. Our long wait is finally almost over.

You expect us to take your word, when we don't know you from Dick or Jane, and you expect us to believe that these unofficial reports are actually from ex-employee's, who also haven't proved anything. All I see is a whole bunch of talk coming from websites, who are quoting secret sources, without actually confirming anything.

Being a skeptic is a good thing, it makes it harder to be fooled, scammed, or sold crap for example. Skeptics will require solid, unrefutable proof that a KOTOR MMORPG is being made. The only solid thing that can really prove this is an official release or those who know stuff to post undeniable facts that they know what they are talking about.

I can call up somebody and say I am an ex-Bioware employee and know for a fact that KOTOR is what they are working on and make up some stuff that would sound realistic and people would believe it from what I am reading. If I can do that, why can't others? Why believe a person who says there are a prior employee without backing it up with unrefutable evidence?

It's better to be skeptic and turn out wrong, than to believe everything that is told to you.

It doesnt work like that. believe me I know. Ive worked for host news sites before and they dont print any old email they receive without researching the source.

How it works...

First they'll want proof of credentials, ie copy of driver's license, W2 to show where they worked, etc. Some background info as well.

Second, any decent news site (newspaper, internet site, tv, etc) will look for multiple sources to confirm a story. News sites risk liability ith defamation type lawsuits so a second source is critical. Most wont even consider doing a story without confirmation from 2-3 more sources.

Once they have met these two criteria they will write and post the story. Oh and protecting a source applies on the web too. Any good reporter will protect a source from LA's wrath. So fear over violating any NDA isnt an issue as long as the news site doesnt reveal its source (and no court can force them to unless national security is involved).

I can guarantee you that any email sent in was checked, verified, and received multiple confirmation before its data was reported.

Okay, well I can confirm that what you say about this is true, because I did learn that in college. However, I also know that not all news sources require that level of proof. That is where you get your trash newspapers like the Inquirer's. The website that created that article is unknown to me. I've never heard of them, so they are not reliable in my eyes. I will believe it when a reputable gaming website reports it or at least a real news source, like NBC, Fox etc.

Like I said, I am a skeptic. Being a journalist, you should appreciate this, because those who dig for and report the news have to be as skeptic if they want to be reliable. I'd rather be wrong about this, because I want a Star Wars MMORPG, but if I am right, at least I didn't have my hopes up.

Ok, I dont even play SWG. My main issue is that you said you received a written letter from them to not post anything on the internet about their project?

You found their art drawings in the TRASH! That is public property. So, please explain why you didnt actually post their stuff... Unless you were payed off or given some sort of compensation.

Once something is thrown away in the trash... The owner of said property relenquishes any such "hold" on said property.

correct me if im wrong? Im just going by what I see

You could have labelled a thread UNOFFICIAL or SUPPOSED or I THINK THIS IS... or something....and scanned the pics....given some sort of proof...or whatever... Thoughts?

Yes thats 100% true. But they can still sue you anyway. I didnt feel like hiring a $200 an hr attorney over this matter. Still, I posted what I saw and went into detail about the pics and other things going on at their studio

I no i'm late in this thread, but DUDE do you know what the internet even is?

you should host the images anomalously hence manking you untraceable. and if your thinking about IP tracking or something like that, just do it on public computers in the libary or something.

1. put images on flash disk

2. go to public libary/school computers

3. make a forum account (plus email) with false info, and image shack one. [not nessarily this forum]

4. get images off flash disk, host up the image on image shack

5. make post with image shack link

battaboom, whole internet can see images, noone knows who they are from.

This stuff can still be traced to public computers and every public library etc has logs reporting who was on what computer. The United States has taken great strides in fighting computer crime. I wouldn't risk it, but you are right, there are ways that are undetectable, where he/she could post those shots on the net. However, it isn't worth it.

Wow, all sorts of new faces here.  Been kinda empty since AoC.

Another thing I find fascinating is this obsession with trash. 'Riker, you seriously need to change the title of the post. Really. It should be simply called  - Trash 101. Just erase any mention of the gist of the original post and allow everyone to chime in on their personal and sometimes carnal knowledge of the subject. Its what the raging public wants. Let them eat their cake,

You are very correct Sir.  I am not sure why the fans are so rabid because from what I remember SWG was nothing more than sub-par to begin with thus the reason for the CU.

There is a very good reason why many are "rabid"

Lots of SWG players were new to MMO's. They came to live and breath inside a virtual universe full of wonderful memories.

I was 7 years old when Star Wars opened in 1977. I'll never forget that experience for as long as I live. I am not alone in this. Thousands of us dreamed of being a simple moister farmer, a droid engineer, a rebel pilot, etc and Star Wars Galaxies gave us that dream. Yes it was buggy but dang it was still living out a dream.

People wont get our rabid love for Star Wars because simply they werent there in 1977. Catching Episode 4 12 years later on HBO isnt the same experience. Especially considering blockbuster movies became the norm along with special effects after Lucas set the bar. In 1977 it was new, stunning, breathtaking what Lucas did.

SWG was more about the ability play in a virtual world rather than any features (or bugs) for many of us. It isnt oten one gets a chance to live and breath in a dream.

And thats why we are continually disappointed with each new MMO launch. LOTRO launches and I buy the game hoping I can be a simple hobbit farm who would never touch a weapon over a pint. When I read about Stargates World I hope they allow me to play a scientist non-combat type. Its all about BEING in the world and creating my own destiny. These silly MMO's after SWG are nothing more than amusement park rides with a predetermined story.

We're angry because for once the developers got it right and made a virtual world rather than a cheesy book Im forced to read. Freedom to choose our own playstyle is what SWG gave us. And now its gone and nobody around seems willing to give us another virtual freedom playground

Yup, a chance to share a childhood dream with a few hundred thousand other people, many of whom had the same dream was a rare and wonderful opportunity.  It was a real loss to be sure.  The way the experience was taken away made things particularly bitter I'd say, and created what might be described as an infected wound.  Those seem harder to heal.

Add to that the design of the game that promoted community building and even close personal relationships between players and you have a lot of emotional power.

Frankly, to foster that kind of community and relationship building and then to strip it away practically overnight is very harmful behaviour to people socially and emotionally.

The fact that people were led to believe their game would continue by SOE/LEC marketting just before it was destroyed adds further insult to injury.  Even if people heal and grieve their losses, this won't be forgotten.

Are people really that against a KoToR like mmo that they put down any chance of it happening?

I find new news on something I enjoy GOOD.  I dont trash the person for finding information, even if its wrong. Thats part of the exciement of it all...

Yet all people can think about is being better and "more right" then the next...Amazing.

These 2 posts perfectly explain Star Wars and SWG to those that just don't get it.. well written folks.  I could not have said it any better.

No offense all but I am done with Bioware now that they are a house organ of Electronic Arts. I just have no faith in anything that EA does these days. Sure, Bioware WAS a great development house before being swallowed up by EA. EA generally ruins the houses they take over. I just don't see that EA will keep their "hands off" this if it is indeed true (which by the way I still have my doubts).

Let's party like it is 1863!

meh

I will wait to see the authentic information from a "legal" source.   It may be true or not true, but disgruntled employees and a guy who goes to things which where I come from are in fact Illegal I wont put too much stock into if anyone is actually telling the truth to begin with.

What I dont want is a game with one class (jedi) as for the rest like the next guy i'm waiting to see what happens.

On a side note bioware is Canadian and their trash bins are in Canada in some cases.  Its illegal in Canada to do this and something that in fact will get you landed in jail.   So just that has me doubtful..

In the United States, once trash has been put on th curb to be picked up its considered public domain. I have every right to walk right up to your trash cans in front of you and dig away and you cant do a dam thing about it.

I violated no criminal laws. Dumpster diving is perfectly legal as long as I dont trespass on private property.

No, it is not legal in all of the U.S. As I pointed out earlier, in some states, California in my case, it is illegal regardless of whether the trash is on private property or the curb. Until it hits the trash truck, it is still the original owners property and protected as such.

Sorry bro . . . you are wrong:

The court relied on two factors in concluding there was no

public''>*4 and that it is well established that ``[W]hat a
person knowingly exposes to the public, even in his own
home or office, is not a subject of Fourth Amendment
protection.''>*5

Finding that Greenwood exposed his garbage to the public
sufficiently to defeat his claim to fourth amendment
protection, the Court stated that the fourth amendment has
never required law enforcement officers to shield their
eyes from evidence of criminal activity that could be
observed by any member of the public.>*6 Here, Greenwood's
trashed was placed outside the curtilage>*7 of his
residence in an area particularly suited for public
inspection and where any person in the neighborhood had
access to the trash.

Assumption of the Risk Rationale

A second factor relied on by the Court was the fact that
Greenwood placed his trash at the curb for the express
purpose of conveying it to a >third party, the trash
collector, who might have sorted through the trash or
permitted others, such as the police, to do so. In that
regard, the Court has consistently held that an individual
has no Reasonable expectation of privacy in information
voluntarily turned over to third parties, even where the
information is disclosed with the belief that it will be
used only for a limited purpose, and even where it is
assumed the third parties will not betray the confidence
placed in them.*8

Individuals assume the risk that information they
voluntarily reveal to a third party may be conveyed by that
person to law enforcement officials. By voluntarily
conveying his trash to the regular trash collector for
routine pickup, Greenwood assumed the risk that the trash
collector might convey the contents of the trash to a law
enforcement officer. This assumption of the risk rationale
applies even if Greenwood believed the garbage would be
taken to the dump and destroyed and even if Greenwood
believed the confidence he placed in the collector to
destroy the trash would not be betrayed.> --

That is in CA  ;)

The US Supreme Court made their ruling.  The states can't charge someone for going through garbage that is on the curb.  If they do, they can have a lawsuit on their hands.

Thanks for playing, though

In many countries digging through trash is actually a criminal offense and people go to jail for it.

The court relied on two factors in concluding there was no
Reasonable expectation of privacy in trash left at the curb
for collection. First the Court noted that ``[I]t is common
knowledge that plastic garbage bags left on or at the side
of a public street are readily accessible to animals,
children, scavengers, snoops and other members of the
public''>*4 and that it is well established that ``[W]hat a
person knowingly exposes to the public, even in his own

protection.''>*5

You'll pardon me if i take the Bioware reps words saying they are not making a Kotor 3 MMO over your trash diving career.

How about I prove you wrong by saying that we are not working on KotOR 3 and have no plans to start? It may be a rumor or w hope or w wish or whatever, but we are not currently working on KotOR 3 and we have no plans to work on KotPR 3 at this (or any afaik) time.

Well all he is saying is that they are not working on a singleplayer KOTOR 3, that doesnt mean that they are not working on a starwars MMO.

The MMO they are working on, if it is starwars based, will not be called KOTOR 3 for sure. Knights of the old republic online maybe, but definatly not KOTOR 3.

So saying that they are not working on KOTOR 3 does not mean that they are not working on a starwars MMO be it in the KOTOR era or not.

This is the way i see it, i may be wrong.

Yeah, saw that post about a year ago. Never gave it a thought because its sheer semantics with a community relations guy. Funny how since then he commented on this KOTOR3 rumor but declines ALL comment on if the project is Star Wars related. They don't comment on rumors you see...

I am a big skeptic, and I am seeing that the same as you. Businesses play word games, so that when they release something that is similar, they can say what they said was true. They could have said they weren't making a Star Wars MMO, but they chose to use the words KOTOR 3. It could be that they used those words because the community was and it has nothing to do with deceiving us. They might not be making a Star Wars MMORPG. However, I do know that this post doesn't mean they aren't making a Star Wars MMO. In fact, they left themselves wide open to announce a Star Wars MMORPG in the making due to their word choice.

You should reread the title of your post "Now that we have UNOFFICIAL confirmation"  I want an official link from Bioware or it didn't happen.  Sounds pure speculation.

Sorry OP I think your still full of it and this is why! Lets say I have secret info on some project going on! I post it on some forums and people flame me calling BS. Im not going to turn around and jump up and down kicking and screaming on the forums trying to make everyone think im the holder of all secret info. Im just going to move on and laugh!

What you have done allready is make a bigger fool out of yourself then anything else by repling to posts who think that your info is not true! Lets ay it does come true in what you are saying you messed that one up as well! Its a obvious guess you made thats it nothing more but some lies added to it. The art that you say you obtained from the trash will never see the light of day due to the fact you dont have it.

Your a liar and not a good one at that either! You can go to any local library and post the pic or you can go to any internet cafe and post a pic there as well! No one will know were it came from and it cant be traced back to you if you use your head. Instead you pull the lawyers and getting sued card as your excuse to why this info was never posted.

To all the OP bashers. The same thing was said to the guy that warned everyone that was playing SWG, the NGE was coming. I still remember that post very well, and even remember being very skeptical also.

I have learned now from that experience, not to flame nore try and discredit anyhting that someone may or may not know.

To the OP, lets say you do have some pictures. Can you perhaps, throw them away? You found them in the dumpster, why cant someone else. Someone anonymous, find them in YOUR dumpster, and then anonymously scan them in, and host them on a foreign website. Maybe a Russian website. They dont care too much for US law.

The point is, if someone really wanted those pics out, they would be out.
