It seems to me this producer really understands all kinds of player base and feelings about different "ages" any long lived mmo faces, but instead of just changing every time, DAoC devs try to content those that don't like new versions with old school servers.

C'mon, if Mythic can do it for a very low subscriber base as DAoC is, why SOE can't do one single server for "nostalgics"? c'mon, it is possible to support old players!

I really like NGE content and new systems, but I feel the "urge" to play the profession and combat system from old incarnations.

cause if you read the entire post the poster is asking why sony can't do the same thing with SWG.  

I would think it would be a waste of time for sony to do this because I dont think the number of returning subscribers would be worth the time and expense to try to get old burried code running.  Assuming that is they still have the code.  From what I know they don't as someone posted awhile back that its gone. 

Personally, I think it would be a good idea for SWG if they actually have the code still.  I quit with the NGE and haven't looked back.

To do so would be penny-foolish and pound wise. Such wisdom is alien to the SOE mindset. They do not understand the value of positive word-of-mouth; they do not understand what a coup it would be, even if it cost them some money.

Now I really don't care if you don't care that the Line of the New DAoC servers is going to help SOE realize that they made the worst mistake in MMO history with the NGE and trying to draw a line of correlation is a stress at best.
I do applaud the wise move of the folks at Mythic in providing a path of continuation to their game but in the same respect I would have to mention the progressive server on SOE's Flagship Everquest as well. Its a shame that the logic of a new clean server could provide was not and will not be extended to SWG with the wise move of placing a Pre-CU server. If they did it would have shut me up a long time ago .
Sorry if I jump on the OP too quickly for some but I am aware of who I am dealing with.

Yeah, I know, the horse is already dead, but it's a bit ashaming a little dev team can do even more than Sony :(

I agree. I sincerely hope DAoC's effort is successful, that way it will be more proof that veterans are worth the time and effort.

   Only a troll would necro a resolved thread to lodge an attack even if its on me .  You would have to do better then that but I see that you hold SWG in high reguard. I may not have the mental capacity to meet this challenge.
