I figured it was something along these lines, banned for exploiting,as many other guilds have pooled their money, raised cities(including some notorious ones like goonheim) and yet, not been banned.

I take the position in games that pretty much, if a company does this, you probably deserved it.  Sure, there's going to be a few mistakes, but for the most part, those banned were never innocent victims.

Good riddance to the OP and Box I'd say.

Isn't using exploits considered cheating? Which is punishable by banning? The same as buying gold in other games? Sure, they need to fix it, but the person that discovers it needs to report it, not abuse it.

I agree its bad judgement to use exploits but I mentioned 2 games and exploits in them. The devs just fixed them and didn't ban people.  People who buying gold, hacking and botting aren't exploits in the game.  If Funcom know about the exploit then they should fix it as quick as they can, treat it like a software company treats vulnerabilities in their software.  Sure most people are going to see expoits and use them, most of those people wouldn't bot or hack because they don't think they're going to get in trouble for using an exploit in the game.  They just figure in the next update i'll be fixed and they won't be able to use it anymore.  I'm guessing Funcom didn't know about the exploit before the game went live?  If they did thats even worse.  The exploit should have been found and fixed in the beta process, if it was from a new update after the game went live then I don't know what to say. 

I hear you, but at the very least, if not banned, the in-game gold / items / levels that were gained as a result of the exploit needs to be removed / deleted / cleared.

There's no way for us to know the truth about this.  Even if the guild leader wasn't directly cheating, what if just one of his guild members was and that cheater passed on bad gold?  The guild leader would still be "responsible", indirectly cheating and bannable (as would the direct cheater).

The thing about beta is - what's the motivation for someone that finds an exploit to tell anyone about it?  Beta isn't the place to catch such things, some other non-biased Q/C should be.

Well if you call a ton of people harvesting for hours on end resource-exploiting, sure.

No, there was no exploiting. Everything we did was through large numbers of talented people pooling their efforts.

It's just the same old fanbois wanting to believe that something couldn't possibly be foul about the policies of Funcom.

Let me explain the terms again.

WIth an exploit a player is ACTIVELY looking to break the mechanics of the game, with a bug a player is doing nothing at all. A bug is just something performing strangely that ANYONE can come in contact with because it affects the whole game.

 

Your definition of exploit is hacking.

If someone finds a dupe bug then reports it and they don't use it again, it's doubtful their account will come to any harm, however, if someone finds a dupe bug and keeps using it without reporting it, then they are exploiting, and most likely will get banned.

Wow that's really stupid if anyone did that. If the guild leader knew, then yes. If he didn't know, then absolutely not. It's like saying I'm going to arrest you because you were with your friend on Friday night for exactly 4 minutes and that friend was later caught using pot. Though you didn't use any and you didn't know, you're still responsbile. What?

I heard of a resource bug, that was being exploited, and no it wasn't regular resource gathering. I don't know what the bug was but how can you say with certainty that you know that no one in your guild was using this exploit?

Dude I just took out some of the useless parts of your thread. Read what you said.
If funcom told people about it then there is no excuse not to know about it. Either that or funcom did NOT tell everyone about it (maybe in forums but not everyone goes to forums) and they did not know it was a bug/exploit.

   As I said not everyone reads the forums and really if your 17 years old are you really such a stupid idiot to think that your gaining tons of gold off of a bug that it is not cheating?Point I was trying to make contridiction or not moron is even if they had it on the launcher alot of ppl probly still did not see it I was respondin to the idiot who said that everyone could have used the bug therefore justifying the ones who were cheating and doing it simply because everyone could have.
