title pretty much says it all. As a  18 HoX  I can take out 2 or 3 mobs my own level and 4 or more if the are a level below me. I am just using vendor junk equipment, and have pretty much mastered the combo system now. BTW they have some great animations for those.

Also the death penalty is pretty light in my opinion. No item wear or loss. Just run back and tag the tombstone or a take a mild stat loss for 30 min.

Not that I want Vanguard poke yourself in the eye with a spoon hard but they could ramp things up a little  bit. I am hoping it becomes more challenging after Tortage I guess, lvl 1 - 20 is pretty much a cakewalk so far.

Actually its probably the easiest lvl MMOs i have ever played....until you hit 44. Then its grind grind grind until 50ish

At lvl 20 theres a crapload of quests that smacks you in the face and only a limited amount of quests you can have.

After about 40s the quests are harder to come by and the harvesting quests are probably the worse implementation of harvesting i have ever seen.  The replinish rates of the nodes are atrocious.

But from 20 to 40ish you'll lvl fast

Please elaborate. You need to harvest so much, but the nodes spawn far to infrequently?

Played and enjoyed:
EQ2,DAOC,GW,WOW

Harvesting:

in games like EQ2 and WOW, the nodes disappear after use - reappears at full later

in AOC, there are less nodes and they are in static spots

after use,  the node remains and never disappears (altho depleted) -- and slowly regenerates

players may visit the node and find it already empty or having 1 or 2 resources on it

Doesn't get harder, gets boring though. Same button mashing with exactly the same tactic for every encounter ... ooh, fun!

depends on what you decide to do.  some quests require a group when you are at a certain level, but you can choose to just level up on single player quests instead and then do the hard quests once you gain a few levels.  Some quests around level 30 get pretty hard and require a large group if you want to do them efficiently, otherwise they could take up to an hour for everyone in the group to get it done.

But there are a lot of quests and you can really make your own pace.  If you do harder quests, you're going to get more xp and better money/items.  If you do easier ti may take a little longer to level, but probably at a more consistent pace.

The power is yours!

Consider this my second impression.

I guess part of it is I expected more from this combo system or maybe I am missing something.

As far as I can tell I have exactly 4 key stroke combos right now the way I have my skills set up. I would have to go ingame to get the names but every fight I just spam burning breath and while it is recharging I have 4 "specials" which i activate with  6-3 , 8-1, 9-3, and a 3 keystroke one of 7-3-1. They are real pretty and flashy though some great animation and effects, but it would be more  challenging if the combos used random keys.

The other part is I have gotten used to LoTRO where if you die there is a small penalty of equipment repair cost and a stat loss for a few minutes which has to time out. In AoC I could give a dam if I am killed or not. JNothing major but emough to where you try not to get killed at least. Here I just respawn 10 seconds from where I died then run back and tag the tombstone and all is well.

The health and mana recharge at a helluva rate also. Downtime is almost non existent.  I can go from 1/4 to full health in about 5 seconds. I threw some points into casting concentration and mana rechage and I have never ran out of mana. If this were a FPS I would think I am newbie mode or something.

The game has so much potential and FC did very well on a lot of stuff but I really think I will be very bored before the end of my free 30 days. But it sure is a pretty game with the best animation I have ever seen in a game and the absolute best writing I have ever seen on the quests.
