Apparently, Funcom feels that guildmates grouping in order to PvP is against the rules on AoC PvP servers:

edit: sorry about that, had the wrong thread linked, it's working now

It is either PVP or it is not .  If played under the genre of the ruleset, GM's must leave it be.

This GM's a joke, they need to get this power tripping gimp back in his box. Seriously need to sort their personnel department out imo.

If a GM talked that way to me ... blah. I think my regrets about not buying at launch have been laid to rest.

I'll check in again on AoC in September or so...I figure at that point the game will be fixed or dead lol.

The post is most likely a fake. I won't say certainly, but it would have been more easy to believe if we had an intact screenshot to read it from. At least part of it. I know that with the speed chat goes by with all the OOC spam it'd be difficult to get the whole thing, but cutting and pasting together this stuff in a ransom note esque fashion doesn't add to it's validity.

its not a fake. Its been confirmed. Disciplinary action is already being considered and they stated the GM stepped out of bounds.

The official statment from the official forums

So, there seems to be some confusion on both sides of the issue.

Let's try to clarify the situation, and then perhaps we can get somewhere.

PvP is acceptable in all shapes or forms. We have built-in mechanics that allow the player being killed to find a way out of it.. When those mechanics fail or do not function as intended we will step in. Until then we will be as hands off as possible.

Now, we have a lot of players, a lot of servers, and a lot of petitions, as you may know. We do get a lot of petitions on Deathwhisper about "griefing". When do we take action? When it crosses the line. You can camp someone until the next day if you want. More power to you.

What you cannot do is verbally threaten them or use inappropriate language. You cannot use exploits or bugs to kill other players, or for any reason, for that matter. The game is rated M, but that does not mean you can use racial slurs or issue personal attacks.

In this case, the GM was seeing a lot of reports of griefing with regards to SA's guild. He didn't say you couldn't pvp. He made the honest mistake of giving out his personal opinion that maybe keeping a lower profile might be handy in avoiding a negative reputation. Obviously, it was a mistake. If you feel like it, bring all 300 of your friends, enemies, or whatever and beat each other senseless.

They also stated if another person posts a link to the screenshot of the GM they will perma ban their forum access. You know....I had a lot of respect for Funcom and their professionalism.

Who the hell are they hiring these days?

It seems that our policies are not clear cut enough, and we will make every effort to clarify them so that there is absolutely no question as to what is appropriate and what is not.

Apparently more crap is hitting the forums over there too (screenshots posted as this will be closed in second)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH .....I can't stop laughing at this crap!

Funcom seriously, well nevermind; I don't care anymore as you've obviously got some major issues and everyone sees that very clearly now!

I have no problem with this one at all. I feel like the GM does that rez zone camping, and rez killing are both classic examples of griefing. And players that do it are assholes. :)

I fail to see why i should have to watch my language in a game where the major selling points are gore, tits, and an M rating.  Makes so sense at all.

I have no idea what the real truth is cocerning that GM but some members of that guild raise doubt in my mind as brought to you by this thread http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=46634 and how some of them keep saying, "We defeated the game" with the link provided in the OP:

Is this a goonsquad err or a guild with some members misbehaving or something else?  I'll tend to give the benefit of the doubt to the officials before players under suspect.

Edit: switch position of the link around to make it a less confusing read I hope and additional wording

Its very real. I can screenshot the moderator response if you like

Edit: screen shot of actual statement. Its not photoshop and i can provide you the direct link if you wish

Also, as I said, they are currently investigating the GMs right now. It could be 100% fake and it could be 100% factual.  Its up to Funcom to determine that by logging into their chat logs

Wow, I am sure happy I chose a pve server! Carebear or not, the pvp servers seem to attract some real immature people.

That looks a little odd....

Is that on US servers...?

Anyway, griefers need to find another way of enjoying the game, if at all...

I couldn't care less if they ban someone that stands at a ress point ganking all day long. Good riddance.

I play on PvP server, and most of the high level players that I meet just run by me without attacking.

I find people will rather team up than attack each other over a boss.

Ofc you got gankers, but I never find it much of a problem, just go in groups or change instance.

The OOC might have alot of immaturity to it, but I don't see much players of that sort around.

The GM told them not to camp the rez area.  I don't see that he did anything wrong.

Some of the players ask for clarification regarding profanity, then throw out some bigoted and sexually explicit terms.  I think a mature person realizes that is not acceptable.  The fact the game has a mature rating has nothing to do with keeping the bigotry and sexually profane language out of the game.

If that's the calibre of people playing on the pvp server then thank God I never rolled a toon on one.  Disgusting behavior.

I dont understand whats a big deal?

GM ask morons not to be a morons, because if regular players tell it to them it means nothing. And what these morons do? Post it on forums and make self even more morons.

my thoughts as I read this thread were:

-FC's forum mods need to get a grip

-people get way too hung up on words

-I am damn glad I rolled on a Pve server

-Funcom has gotten themselves in over their heads

-The GM's need some training ASAP or a transfer to a PvE server

-People who roll on a open PvP server should expect ganking and spawn camping

-FC needs to make a buffer zone around spawn points or come up with some other mechanic to stop spawn camping

-once again I am glad that LoTRO is primarily PvE and the mechanics of MPvP keeps crap like this from ever happening.

I miss DAoC
