Hello all!

I am a long time Everquest vet (8 years now ) and played Vanguard to max level. i have also played various others, wow, lotro d@d etc.

I previously had no interest in this game as it just didnt seem my style of game at all. I happened upon a copy in my local game store and thought, what the hell lets give it a go. i have so far played 2 characters, both Rangers till level 17. i have not powered along but played at a steady pace and got to grips with lore and exploration of the starting areas. I had one char on a rp pvp server which i played untill 17 then rerolled on a pve server. i love pvp but found there are too many non pvp players on the server at the moment. by non pvp i mean i was standing in white water using the merchant in the respawn area when i noticed my health was at half way..i was being attacked using a merchant lol. then after so many times being killed at a spawn point before my health even had chance to go above 10% ( when you respawn from a death you are very low health to start with ) i was just having no fun and there seemed no point at all to the pvp unless you want little kids running around taking advantage of exploits all the time.

Onto the pve server now and again i have reached 17. the combat i was told was just hit the same buttons repeatedly over and over....hmm i seem to have many combo's etc with my ranger and combat is actualy quite engaging..if i am faced with an oponnent i cant handle in mellee i can snare him and step back and come from a different angle..great stuff... i have nice rig but nowhere near modern..and performance seems stable and FPS at 20+ at all times....ok some might frown at this but for me i never did need 60FPS i never saw any difference in games whether at 25+ or 60+ at 25 fps the game runs smooth for me. oh ye and i have not turned anything down at all.

Quests. much better than effort than most recent games. destiny quest is very enjoyable and i hope they add more side games like this in time. other quests are a mixed bunch but some can again be very enjoyable. a lot of the kill x amount i avoid though as i believe quests can spoil games if saturated...ie Vanguard wow etc. How many times have you started a group to have a player leave after his quest mob is down lol.

Graphics! wow i have to admit i am not usualy a graphics person but wow. this game looks gorgeous. terain looks great, maybe a little restricted if im being picky but overall great. Chars look awesome and you can really play with the look of your char..yes all human races but enough variety for that race to have your own look.

So far i have to admit to being pleantly suprised! i was going to stay away but after giving it a go i think i will stay a while if thats ok :) after all the bad reviews i read it makes me wonder if the  game has changed so much from beta? oh ye and the instances are nothing like i had read which was one big reason for staying away. most of them load faster then the chunking in VG. ok it can be anoying trying to join the right instance if there are more than one and you are trying to find friends, but i am sure they will iron that out.

Well i hope to update this thread as i go along, hopefully it can keep me interested.

congrats and enjoy the game!  Last night I couldn't get tired of the combat.. I told myself that I would ONLY fight when necessary or when completing a quest to actually RP my character.  Last night, I broke that vow and ended up on a killing spree in the camp of Vanir!!   I just couldn't get tired of laying those fools to rest!!
