I would really like to know how or if the Goa'uld are going to be able to take over new hosts or upgrade hosts to increase their "God-like" abilities.  If this is the case would they be able to attain "ascended" raking much like Anubis did in the series?

I highly doubt that they will be able to ascend, but i think someone said on the official forums that it "may" be possible to switch hosts.. all just speculation now though. the game just entered closed beta.

Anubis didn't fully ascend in the show, he was stuck between being mortal, and an ascended being.  But yeah, I don't see them letting players ascend.

And on the topic of Symbiotes, people have mentioned the possibility of you being able to switch hosts.  If that happens, no one fully knows yet.

Actually just to clarify, Anubis did fully ascend when Oma Desala helps him. Once he ascended though, she realized what a terrible mistake she had made. The other ancients eventually tried to send him back but he only went halfway. Thats when he gets stuck in his energy form and has to use that sheild to contain it. 

As for player ascension, don't count on it. Way to many problems when trying to balance player ascension with everyone else gameplay. And I believe its been stated that switching hosts will come to the player, but with limited switches and only in certain circumstances. Haven't really heard if thats changed or not.

Gah! I knew I had forgot something.  I was refering to when you see Anubis as a partily Ascended being.  But yes, I stand corrected.

lol, its no biggie. I just wanted to make sure I was on the same page as you. 

I can see host switching being implimented like this:

You have to take control of the new host, which will cause you to be immobilized for 10 seconds in the game.  An eternity in a tight spot!

Then you will be at 1/2 health, due to the trama of it all.  You can heal up from there.

The idea of body switching was removed - for the moment -

Having you switch from host to host sounds cool so you can inhabit a stronger person or use a person as a disguise to infiltrate a base. I doubt you will be able to ascend because what would you do then? Ascended beings can't interfere(with the exception of Daniel Jackson and Oma'Dala and yes i know i spelled her name wrong), so you would just sit around doing nothing. To some people this may sound fun, but i prefer staying a mortal.

the only being i could see being ascended would be the GM's.  Kinda fits the whole SGW theam also.

Not that there's a high likelihood that this game will actually release, but if it does, the devs have said no host jumping as Goa'uld.

GM = Game Master aka Dev' (Support tech that has access to mess with ingame physic's to fix a problem)
