Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege. |

SCRIPPS RANCH – A 56-year-old Scripps Ranch mother is not expected to survive after her 14-year-old daughter allegedly struck her in the head with a blunt object yesterday morning, San Diego police said. Police said late yesterday they still were investigating the motive for the attack. The 14-year-old girl was being held at police headquarters in downtown San Diego on suspicion of assault, said homicide Lt. Kevin Rooney. Police will book her into juvenile hall on suspicion of murder if her mother dies, Rooney said.
Officers were called to the home on Canyon Lake Drive near Pinetree Drive at 8:46 a.m. and found the woman in the kitchen with serious head injuries, Rooney said. Some officials said she had been hit with a hammer. Police said she was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego. “She's currently in grave condition and not expected to survive,” Rooney said yesterday afternoon. A spokeswoman for Sharp Memorial Hospital said she could not confirm that the woman was being treated there. Police late yesterday were not releasing the identity of the victim. Rooney said the Police Department wanted to give her husband time to notify family members before making her name public. Rooney said he would not release the daughter's name because she is a juvenile. Neighbors identified the victim as Becky D'Aoust and said she had a 14-year-old daughter. Property records list the owners and current residents of the house where the assault occurred as Rebecca A. and James R. D'Aoust. No one answered the door of the house last night, though there were two cars in the driveway. More than 30,000 people live in Scripps Ranch, according to census reports. The neighborhood, south of Miramar Lake, is upscale with mostly two-story homes. Eighteen aggravated assaults were reported in the neighborhood in the past three years, according to regional crime statistics. There have been no homicides reported during that time. The woman's husband and a 21-year-old daughter were inside the two-story home when they were awakened by a scream, Rooney said. A third daughter, the oldest, was away at college. There were no signs of trouble within the family, said neighbor Arthur S. Moreau III, who said he was the family's attorney. “It's out of nowhere,” Moreau said about the attack. “It's really not a neighborhood where there's violent crime.” Detectives searched inside the house and gathered evidence yesterday afternoon, Rooney said. Outside, the family's German shepherd, named Roxy, wandered the neighborhood nervously, ignoring detectives' attempts to lure it into the house. Neighbors described the family as quiet and close. Neighbor and family friend Mary Cederlund, 86, said the daughter arrested by police is “a lovely little girl.” Cederlund said the 14-year-old liked to exchange cookies with her and played with dogs in the neighborhood. Her parents were sending the girl to a private school in the area, Cederlund said. “They're a wonderful family,” Cederlund said. “I can't believe it.” |

| 98% of the teenage population does or has tried smoking pot. If you're one of the 2% who hasn't, I bet you drink coffee/alcohol and take aspirin but think you've never done drugs. |

It's sad when things like this happens at the moment we don't know the motive but with teenages it can be something which as adults we deam irrational. For instance a boy killed his mother (read it a while back) because she took his computer away due to bad exam results. Sure it would make a person mad but it does not justify killing someone. I guess sometimes people just keep problems bottled up inside themselves afraid of what society will say until one day they can't take it anymore and vent out in anger. Only time will tell why a 14 year old decided to turn on the woman who created her.

Dong, where is my automobile? |
it's not surprising to see people acting irrationally when backed into a corner. |

A majority of the population these days has far too much time to sit around and do nothing. IMO it drives some people nuts and with society the way it is today people think they can get away with anything. On top of that a majority of the parents out there are idiots and have no business even having a child come within 10 feet of them. Hopefully this girl gets locked up in some looney bin for the rest of her life, then she can see how better off she probably was with her mother. |

Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and nagging wife. |
Not to make any excuses for the girls actions, but early teen years for a female is a very dramatic time in their life. Early teens are experiencing changes in their bodies...especially with their hormones. Many times a young female does not know how to cope with these changes, sure the parents or friends can give them warnings about these changes but sometimes it can't be fully controlled. Although it is not the best example, drink a few cups of coffee right before you go to bed. Yes, you know what will happen, you have the knowledge about the affects of coffee but still try to fall asleep...there is a good chance you won't. Basically altered / changed chemicals in your body will affect you one way or another no matter how hard you try to control them now matter how informed you are. |
