With elections coming to a close, CCP is now able to introduce the first Council of Stellar Management elected in EVE Online.  The newly formed council will meet in EVE for the first time on Saturday, May 24th.

Pencils down, and step out of the voting booths, everyone. Your votes have been tallied, and we’re ready to put an end to two days of rampant speculation. Introducing your first Council of Stellar Management!

The Council’s first meeting will be held in EVE this Saturday, the 24th. The session will not be open to the public, but the minutes will be made available on the CSM forum.

Seems that less than 12% of the voters actually voted in this election.  Sounds to me like the election is one big resounding thud.

I don't expect great things from the council, nor should you.

Don't be ignorant. It's a game and of course a large majority wont vote. I didn't even expect that many to vote myself and anyone considering 12% a failure is comparing to real life politics, which simply isn't comparable.

I don't know, less than 12% is a pretty resounding "who cares" from the community.  CCP heaviliy advertised the voting too, not as if it was not well known.

Pretty much tells CCP that the vast majority don't consider the concept worthwhile.

By "heavily advertised" you mean changed the MOTD to link to it. The MOTD was very obscure, and anyone who doesn't follow the dev blogs wouldn't have known what the CSM was and thus wouldn't use their time to vote for something they didn't understand.

It would have been the equivalent of holding a surprise election advertised with a small block of text that appears in the newspaper saying "Vote in the elections".

There was room for improvement, they could have emailed all their subscribers or locked the login screen until they selected a person.

It was more of a "WTF?" rather than a "who cares".

This does, however blow their 5% agreement system out of the water.
