I must admit its been a long while since I played WOW. And I loved it when it first came out. However WOW has that "grinding" feeling which i hate, and I havent got that with AoC yet (Beta)

So, yes, AoC is better than wow simply because it improves on wow without copying it.

AoC better then wow?...well its like comparing apple's and pears (their close but kinda really NOT)

 

and if you really want a list of things AoC has going for itself that wow just doesent (and could but they dont listen to there fan base)

guild citys...

other then that it has:

genuious combat system..

amazing visuals and lush character creativity...

Random Proc bloodlust battle fatalaties !!!

and above all else...

I really doubt that AoC will be larger then WoW for the simple reason that the game mainly focuses on adults that with a rated M for Mature (i know it rarely helps) but I think and hope we will see more mature players in AoC.

Also define "better" liking or disliking a game (or anything else for that matter) is something personal. Even though WoW is played by millions of people I never really liked it. I have yet to play AoC but will do so when buddy keys or a free trail is available since I'm rather picky with my mmo's I'm not going to pay for it before i try it.

Another thing that really bugs me about almost all mmo's is that they still don't have a sold way to stop gold/item and character selling and the use of bots. This is one of the main reasons I still play lineage 2 in an private community I mean the game is great and loads of fun but the official servers are an joke with more bots then players...

It's up to each individual to decide. Personally, I don't think it's better than WoW. It certainly won't be as popular worldwide.

Just like the FIXED entry points in the zoning system  it is a method of "having a solution" to avoid lag and FPS.

Showing once again that off line graphics techniques are NOT to do things.

I think this discussion is even the core of all problems future MMORPG's face.

With kids asking so called more realistic graphics HOW can designers explain WHY MMORPG's can't have them without hampering gameplay.

 

 

Well it's the way you are exaggerating everything that's starting to get on people's nervs. Take that as an advice.

You have ONE issue with the game. The instanced zones (which you refer as lockout). You can still change to any other instance if you want. And they are not that annoying for MOST people as you may think. But I have to say, GOOD thing we all are not the same, we all like/dislike different things. Most people doesn't have an issue with a few secs loadingscreen once in a while, but some seems to have and making it a big thing. A few seconds, one two three, damn, I wonder how many of those I spend on this forum.

I think I've spend more time waiting for the damn boat in menethil harbor than I'll ever will spend on loadingscreens in this game.

I computers, and for those it's sadly not working so good for are a minority and hopefully funcom are working on their issues. I really hope AoC or WAR will be great, we need a new good mmo (atleast we that want more depth than in wow).

ps: do you have anything to backup the "too many people in city so you are locked out" statement? I can't find any info about it.

Actually, DirectX 10 does allow game designers to be able to put a lot of offline graphic/physic techniques found in offline Pc gaming into multi player or MMO's. To see for yourself simply get a copy of Crysis from the store than go play on a dx9 only server, then a dx10 only server then come back and make that statement again. It can be done in dx9, it just puts a lot more load on the servers. Age of Conan future is dx10. Nobody will be playing AOC in 3 years time still using the dx9 client.

you may not see it but AOC is also designed for the masses.

 

AOC is better then WOW, the quests are great, the story line is great, the graphics are , the game play is decent/good but it is still a themepark just like WOW/EQ However WOW has things that are done better by example . The world is one example.

The Conan game doesn't even have an auction house I just found out playing it .

Economics is the MOTOR behind any good professional MMORPG these  days.

Crafting, loot value, doing commercial actions is just ONE of the driving forces behind modern day MMO's.

Not including an MMORPG auction house/marketplace these days is a straight way to suicide.

Another way that blocks Conan character development as a modern MMORPG.

It is indeed truely a first generation MMORPG with OFF line graphic techniques. Down to loading screens and constantly loading instances.
