Guess the most viable option would be to start at low. See how that runs and if it's decent, then you can increase it to medium and repeat until the game gets too laggy or unstable. |

What resolution?
(Is it worth spending 600$ on a 9800 GX2 1gig ram video card at this point? Would it help my system or is something bottlenecking everything?) |

I wouldn't waste 600 bucks on a Gx2. The 9900 line is going to release in July (supposedly) and they are going to be single cards.. and faster. They will probably retail in the 600-700 range. At least the 9900GTX will. So wait it out.
I have a 9800GTX and I can run high, 2x AA, no bloom.. everything else maxed. 40FPS outside of town. Typically, anything less than a 2.4ghz dual core will choke, the better your GPU, the better your CPU needs to be in order to take advantage. I also have a 3.2 dual core and 8gigs of RAM, so that helps as well. Though, I need it because I have Vista.
The retail version could run better, my tests were on the pvp weekend and open betas. Both one cheetah 1 client and both running debuggers.
Oh yeah, if you plan to siege or do large raids, the more video memory, the better. |
