Why?  Its almost certainly a couple years out.

yeah KOTR was sort of an ill-concealed secret. There are still a few other huge IPs that are in the works that I'm suprised haven't 'officially' announced yet.

Congratulations on being 1 out of 1,000,000 to speculate it would be knights of the old republic.

It's the old prophecy trick, where said prophet would predict more earthquakes, typhoons, and solar eclipses.

Wasn't this topic already discussed in another thread?

Kotor mmorpg will likely be another big budget mass-market wowclone style mmo and not the pre-nge replacement that SW fans dreamed of, unfortunately.. these big companies aim for mass-market high financial returns unlike the small independent firms who would be satisfied with a medium financial return from a more niche player base.

Argh.

Thats a ridiculous response. There is absolutely no reason that you cant tailor a game so that it is great, and financially sucessful. NO reason. We're talking about Bioware here.

Big budget? Yes, good.

Mass market? Yes, the star wars market is perhaps the largest franchise in the world. People will buy this game regardless of how they make it, as long as it's good. Bioware will do what they think is best.

Wowclone? The term gets tossed around far too much these days. These days, any game that has classes is instantly labeled a wow clone. Any game that has a fantasy setting is a wow clone. Any game that says they'll have an auction system, I guarantee you there will be some moron claiming a wow clone conspiracy. I think it may be because these people were not around before WoW. Lets wait and see what they do at least, eh?

Yes, the base of the game will be a lot like WoW, and still more like LOTRO. But it doesn't mean that it will be bad. It mainly depends on how well it is done, and whether they will be able to implement new interesting features.
