First, I hope English is not your first language (there not their).  But plenty of mmo's are in development that seem promising.  WAR currently has the largest following, but Aion, Fallen Earth, Jumpgate (ala Eve), Stargate Worlds are all under development.  Each of these mmo's possesses the possibility to become a great mmo depending on play style and marketing.

The question is when does an mmo become the top in the line?  There's WoW which has most 10 million active subscribers as Blizzard claims, but to others it's not the top mmo.  Maybe it was at the top last 2005, but i'm not sure about now.

If you can't find a top mmo right now then wait for something new.

I'd also include Chronicles of Spellborn in that list.

Nope if AoC fails then PC gaming fails... seriously though there are plenty of other games that are out or coming out by the end of the year, and while many are looking forward to AoC many others are waiting for something else.

"Impossible is Nothing"

I think AoC has great character development and a great combat system. With its good ideas on Seige and Raids the PvP doesnt look bad either. It has the potential to be an outstanding game. It looks like alot will have to do with your guild and working in groups which will also make a great community inside the game. I dont see this game failing at all.

What else is their besides Aoc, war that is a wow clone so that will suck. Also World of darkness isn't going to be out for a long while so this is really the real good mmo coming out.

I don't know what you consider a top mmo.  If you're looking at pure subscription numbers then maybe AoC is going to be it.  I personally think that a lot of people will give AoC a chance because they are the first big name game to release this year.  However, if the game develops poorly by the time AoC, Aion, Stargate and other games release it may end up struggling.  I think a lot of people are underestimating Warhammer.  Listen, Wow's graphics are really cheesy compared to a game like AoC.  The graphics are not why people continue to play that game.  Imo it's the superior development, lack of game breaking bugs, and the excellent game play.  If Warhammer pulls off what they are attempting with excellent implementation then I think you're going to see that game become very popular.  Hell, I'll play AoC and Warhammer. lol

That is sad ... for you. AoC better succeed then. For others there is alot to look forward to, even in 2008. Hell, some are not even looking forward to AoC, but that is maybe too hard to imagine ... for you.

But seriously, why would AoC not be a success. It has it strong point and its weak points like any game, but lots of people are looking forward to it, and that is not just because of the hype. The game must be promising and I see no reason why it would not deliver. Ok, my rig is not able to play it and I am not going to upgrade for it, but maybe in future years I might try it out. So lets hope for the best.
