Caps isn't going to get your post taken seriously, and there is a spell checker available when you make a post. It's the little button thingy that has "abc" and a check mark on it.

"We''re not making a game for Trekkies" Daron Stinnett, Perpetual Entertainment

OP, think about what you said and think about where AoC will be in one year from now.  It will be on XBox 360.  All of these MMORPG companies are moving away from the PC to co-porting of games to multiple mediums.  As such, we'll see more and more of these "NOWNOWNOW" games versus SWG where it would take a long time to down a foe.  The more expensive the project, the more subscribers that these developers need to repay investors and turn a profit.  Don't expect old school gaming in 21 century unless an independent company with a decent budget comes a long with the right vision.

"I'll take MMO disasters for $50, Alex."

"This MMO release in 2008 lost half its player base in the first month after massive hype of non existent features"

"What is Age of Conan?" ...

"Correct, for $50, Ed2099"!

Its hard to believe but you need to play CS strategical if you are up against other good players. Its not about the fight itself anymore, its about adapting to your enemy and playing in a way that assures you victory. In CS positioning and timing is way more important than aim or response time. You have to strategize and decide fast. Just because you die from two shots doesn't mean that its brainless action.

CS is a horrible example, each computer has a different spray pattern (tried it been proven as well)

You have to master the spray pattern, the way the game works, and then go into strategies.

One guy can take out 89709872909078345 newbs at the game even if they all are strategic genious's.

<Sigh> There was a time when WoW PvP had very long battles unless it was a ganking.  There are times it still does take forever to fight someone.  WoW has got a serious problem with rampant item stats reaching for the stars and pulling things way out of balance.

I prefer something fast paced like WoW or Aoc, but allows me time to actually fight a good fight.  Sadly, in DAoC I never played a caster or melee.  The combat ended way too fast.  I played high defense caster classes like bonedancers or healers.  In WoW I still play defensive classes like Warlocks and Paladins, but WoW's combat has slowed down the players speed to death a bit.

Well look at it this way: In WoW or any other MMO someone who has invested 3 months of playtime will take out 4524534 newbs as well. Its not that much different in CS I agree but the point is that when you invest time into CS you will get better at stuff like aiming, watching your spray pattern, movement etc. This would be the same as leveling up your character. You will achieve a competitive level of skill after about half a year. After that its about strategy. Human response time has its limits and cannot be increased over a certain point. The only way to then win against your foes is by using experience and map knowledge to "trick" the opponent. You have to start to create situations where you have an advantage. Good players use traps, baiting, surprise tactics, overpowering tactics etc. even though a lot of them are doing it unknowingly. If these are not strategies, what are they ?

I think MMOs should NOT turn into FPS games completely but rather into FPS/RPG hybrids. A player with good aiming, movement and response time should do just as well as someone with good strategy making, good items and a well balanced avatar. Someone with both should blow everyone else away.

I dont understand what your trying to get at... Any sence of twitched based skill in MMORPGs defeats the purpose of it being a ROLE PLAYING GAME.   Yes its cool to have strategy and a bit of personal skill, but your playing an MMORPG so you can play as someone else.  That is why its called ROLE PLAYING GAME.

The type of game you would be speaking of would be a new sub branch of MMORPS, it would be something like a MMOARPG "A" for action.  Now that thats settled you are talking about a new branch of MMORPGS, which i guess you could be called the next gen of MMORPGS; MMOARPGS.
