Final Fantasy XI

First off, please, save your trolling and flaming because I dont know what they are called. Please.

Anyway! Ive seen fan-art of them, and even saw them in one of the numerous sequels in a commercial on tv once. Any chance that they will be added to the game as a new PC race? O.o Anyone heard anything?

I like the way they look better than the Mithra. ^.^;

They're called the Viera in Final Fantasy 12. One of your playable characters, Fran, is one.

And they've had the same races since FFXI began, so I doubt they'll be adding more now.

They added two new classes with the last xpack... so thats why I was wondering. I hope they do, itd be neat to have a new race in screenshots. :)

Yeah i don't see SE adding any races to the game anytime ever. It would really make a lot of the older players mad I think. The way the job system works and how you have to do so many quests to unlock new areas and level cap quests would make it hard to justify starting over as a new race since in all honesty race is that last thing that matters in this game. I'd have to say the skill of the player outways everything next would be gear because ffxi is so gear dependent and finally race. Each has it's own strengths and weaknesses but in all reality it doesnt matter. I know being a galka pld its really nice to have soo much hp and vit in later fights but i know some taru plds that can out tank a bunch of galka plds i know anyday of the weak because of their skill and gear. Likewise i know some galka blms that make some taru blms look like wimps with some of the insane gear they have and just knowing the job.

There can't ever be another race added to FFXI!  The lore only ever mentioned the 5 that already exist!  ...and yeah its a pretty amazing story to read!  The top few links talk about the races and how they came to be and from where.  Extremely good read then everything else is just as good if you stick around and read it all!

The History of Vana'diel

As others have said, it's highly unlikely any new races will be added as all races are accounted for in the lore.

The Viera are part of the world of Ivalice and so unless there were some strange plot to have them mysteriously transported to Vana'diel (which would be corny at best), it's not likely.

That said, the Viera are a pretty cool race. Fran kicks much ass in XII, methinks.

Ah well... you never can tell what devs will do... but I wont hold my breath on it. ^.^
