General Discussion

What is a good Free based MMORPG that has recently come out or is about to launch.
I know it will probably end up being Korean or something of that ilk.

I've played Rappelz in the past and managed to enjoy that for a good 4 months or so.
Before that, Flyff.
And a history of Pay to Play games before that, from WoW to CoV and others.
I've played Guild Wars for a Month and so on.

I got into Rappelz when it was still new to the rest of us and enjoyed that sense of "Everything is new to everyone" sensation and exploration.

That's essentially what I'm looking for now.

Perfect World or Mabinogi

Mabinogi and Perfect World won't be so enjoyable if you don't have any $$$ for the cash shops. They are o.k. titles otherwise, I'd recommend waiting for Rohan Online open beta (graphics have a stylistic flair, game has a multitude of classes w/ability to make your own stat build and the gameplay is o.k.) because it's pretty good for a F2P game. Mythos is striving for an open beta date, it's like the Diablo series in the sense that it's an isometric hack n' slash, but unlike Diablo it's 3D so that's a fun time-waster. I've taken a liking to Dream of Mirror Online's (DOMO) cel-shaded graphics and addictive gameplay, it's been out for some 6 months or so.

mabinogi is not free if you want to max out your character, you need to rebirth/remort a couple times.

  Either I mis-interpreted the OP or you did. "What is a good free *BASED* MMORPG" Mabinogi in its BASE form is free. Kool-Aid in its base form, is water. You have to pay for sugar and the flavor pack if you want to taste sweet water.

Yeah! Plus I already clarified that for him. It's like the age-old saying (I assume it's age-old ) "Think before you talk," just apply that to your keyboard and you're good to go Paulie.

I'll go with "don't look a gift horse in the mouth".

If you want game play that will be very new to yourself you could try wurmonline.  It'll pretty much be pure survival, no questing, very little dev 'content'.  Just a bunch of people living in their own world.   It's not done, and the unpaid portion is pretty limited with skills just maxing out to 20.   shouldn't need much more than that if you just want to explore for a bit and have very different game play in that it's sandbox instead of themepark.
