I don't care who cloned whom.... What matters is, whose the BETTER one.

Really if a clone ends up being the better, aka Warcraft, then that's just it, they came out first with the mmorpg and they had the fame with the RTS games with it , the characters in those were very popular and in their own way A LOT "cooler" than Warhammer's.

Also people borrow stuff from each other, i mean just look at JRR Tolkien, he gathered a lot of old nordic myths together and other sagas and made LOTR.... Blizzard got their inspiration from Warhammer and thus created their super hit Warcraft universe.

It's not a WOW clone, but it will be the closest thing to a WOW2:

BG with steroids, rip-off of WOW crafting system, WOW improved graphics (yes it's WAR's graphics, but the fact is that WOW put them first in an MMO, so that's what is in milions of players minds).

Only, it will be less of an open world, without fishing, underwater content and diving. Not that WOW had much underwater content, but it had some. So in this sense it looks like it is stressing the Them Park part of WOW... something that seemed impossible, WOW looking so much like a Theme Park back then, but MMO companies are very good at braking new grounds

Regarding DAoC... I think DAoC veterans are up to a big disappointment.

a rip-off of WoW's crafting system; yet WAR's crafting is entirely different and doesn't even resemble it in the slightest way!  Thats amusing!

...and I am a vet of DAoC and everything I've seen so far is on the right path and now with the financial backing they didn't have with DAoC its only going to be much better!  Mythic released DAoC early cause they ran out of money and to this day its still rated above almost every MMO out!

Really?

WOW: disenchant items to get magical essence.

WAR: disenchant items to get magical essence.

Entirely different and doesnt even resemble it in the slightest way? Are you sure? In the slightest way?

Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before.

Yawns

There will be ppl after the release shouting on the general "omg it's a clone" so be prepared for the ignorants to be around comparing everything to WoW and believing that WoW started the whole mmorpg genre. Especially that WAR is based on WoW look and not wise-versa.

WoW - Buy Pattern plug in parts

WAR - Plug in Parts see what happens

 Better yet

WoW - Buy Pattern / formula disenchant, stand around yelling to hopefully enchant items (making it a pain in the ass to make money off of and primarily a guildies only use).

WAR - 'disenchant' for random magical bits, Create Enchanted talismen from random magical bits, Sell Talismen on AH.  No Pattern / Formula Necessary, no standing around hoping someone has time & money to wait for you to place the enchantment.

Very different systems..there is no other way to do Enchants..a game with magical items will have enchanting thats just how it is..but even in WOW they have to buyf ucking Enchant patterns n bullshit you don't do that in WAR thats why WAR's system is different.   If anything WoW copied frigging other games for Enchanting hmm OH frigging EQ..Ooh...god your such ... troll Atlair atleast get it right for once in your life.

Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!

Behold! Rash of the Itch King comes in November! Quake in fear!

It is fair to say that if you played WoW this game will be very familiar to you.  It will feel like Deja Vu.  This is coming from the folks in media that have had a hands on preview.  It is a very smart business move on Mythics part, IMO, because people like what is familiar to them.  It looks like WoW only darker!  It plays like WoW too!  Brilliant!

So suck it up and take it like a man - the game is similar to WoW anyone who has played both has said so.  Sure, the reason why you fight and group is different and Mythic is to be applauded for it, but at the end of the day the game smacks of WoW.

For me, there are things about this game i like but there are things too similar to WoW for my comfort.  Some of the features I don't like about WoW are in this game too.  Booooo!

I don't understand why you folks just can't accept the truth - it plays like World of Warcraft.  Do you honestly think that Mythic has never heard of WoW and that they don't want what WoW has?  Of course they have and of course they do!  And how do you relieve your competitor of his consumer?  By doing what he has done - better! and that is the question you should ask yourself.  Not is Warhammer online similair to WoW but, is it better than WoW?

Then vote with your wallet.

Similarities I see:

The UI.

I don't count Fantasy races as a similarity because it's a High Fantasy game, just like WoW...and EQ...and just about every other fantasy game out there. So to say WAR's a WoW clone because of that is seriously lacking IQ. Besides that, everything else I see that might resemble WoW is actually being taken by Mythic and being improved upon about eightfold. That's how I see it. An example: Battlegrounds in WoW. Four of them. Now, there will be 30 scenarios in WAR...4x8 is 32, so its got about 8 times the "battlegrounds" that WoW does. Plus with different objectives and ways to control the battle.
