At the very least you could get a refund, but if I bought a gun and on the box it said "If you meet the requirments you wont kill anyone" and you kill someone..somebody is getting sued.

Dont know if thats the best analogy, but you get my drift. Vanguard was a classic example of false advertising. Can PC game companies be held accountable for this? Or do they get a free pass due to there being loose laws or no law governing this? Maybe some fine print in the EULA when you first install protects them?

No you cannot sue, and how would you know how AoC runs out of the box anyways, since it's still 12 days before release. People really need to quit complaining about a beta, it's really getting dispressing look at this site, much less these forums. And you might want to re-read what false advertisement is.

If someone can sue for receiving "hot coffee" (ala Micky D's) and burning themslef, yeah you can sue. You just have to find an opportunistic lawyer (which shouldn't be hard). GL!!

In logic the above is called a "Locgical Fallacy"  more specifically it is called the Strawman.

In order to win a settlment in court, you must show that you were harmed.  Finacially, physically, mentally...I am putting my money on the mental one

Don't get too excited about being able to sue for 'anything... The fat idiot lady that crushed the styrofoam cup of coffee between her elephantine legs received exactly $0.00.

The case was thrown out on appeal.

I got $40 back on Star Trek Legacy by Bethesda if thats the game you mean? In fact that game once installed on the HD doesnt need CD to play, dream for pirates, and its still shit! Multiplayer is all messed up. The old Enterprise had 6 nacelles when it blew up lol.

I was so looking forward to it after playing ST: Armada since 2000...

Ok ok ok, let me get this straight....  You bought a game, opened the box, installed it, played it, AND got your money back?   WOW what's your secret!  Thats amazing! (no pun intended.  Ok, maybe a little bit of a pun..)

Can you do the same for me for Assassin's Creed?  I'll let you charge a 15% processing fee!

Many people got their money back on Star Trek: Legacy. The game really is/was shit. But Bethesda is a good enough company to know when it's best to bow to the consumer. Most companies don't give a damn.

I agree, I blame Mad Doc Software though mainly, they should of known better. I didnt feel I should sue them though, thats just going overboard, and an Alien mentality to me.

Playing: Age of Conan, Crysis Wars (mod maps), Fallout 3, NWN2 Storm of Zehir
Watching: Doctor Who S4, Stargate Atlantis S5

theres a reason its called the minimum system requirements. its the minimum to play the game. your gonna lag out, and have issues. its been like that with a lot of games for a long time. why sue over something thats true to almost all games

I had a smart ass reply but..

I suppose what would be funny is if they had a tech look at your system and got it to run at what the court thought was an acceptable level.

Then counter sued you for the cost of going to court...

"We already have two operating MMOs. We launched a game called Ultima Online in 1997. It's still got hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Then there's Dark Age of Camelot, we also have a situation where we have well over 100,000 subscribers."

-Frank Gibeau of Electronic Arts.

Does it seem odd that UO has more subscribers than the best RvR game on the market?

Good luck with that. No, really.

The requirements on the box are the minimum and recommended requirements to be able to run the application, nothing more. At no point do they garauntee a certain framerate or quality of playability. Heck, most EULAs anymore flat-out say there's no garauntees on that sort of thing. You mileae WILL vary.

Good luck, you won't get anywhere at all.
