I played OB last night for the first time, and I LOVE IT! Lets just ge the bad out of the way first: THE BAD: 1) My computer froze a couple times, not sure if its the client or my pc yet. The sound kept playing, but screen halted, and I had to close the program via task manager. 2) Cut-scene camera sometimes in poor positions, like behind my head. 3) The first 'boss' guy you kill, i had to speak with him a couple times before he would attack me. 4) On some beach, i was out to kill some pirates, and some of them were "stuck" and "evaded" each attack. People were waiting and looking around for spawn for this quest, but the 4-6 of them down the beach that were "stuck" were taking up spawn.
K, thats all the bad stuff. All of it very fixable.
THE GOOD: 1) The combat omg. I dont see how people can complain here. At level 1, the combat has 2 additional layers that no other mmo has had: directional attacks and shielding, and active swinging. I can only imagine level 80 pvp... 2) The art omg. Both the characters and environments are stunning. I am able to run at med/high settings at 30+ framerates. Quick system summary: q6600, 9600gt, 8gb ddr2 3) Quests and content. The mature-topics and lore, as well as the voice-acting, were all refreshing. the voices are cheeze at times, but overall good quality.
THE UNKOWN: 1) Balance: only time will tell if the game will be balanced in pvp. early levels of pvp are always bad examples of balance. 2) Conent: will there be enough pve content at mid-high? I dunno! will there be challenging instances with big rewards? i dunno!

Pretty good first impressions...still a few bugs...but I think they will get worked out. Combat ,graphics, n content are well done. Now I suggest you duck cause it won't be too long b4 the trolls come bashing everything you stated...=P |
