As a gamer the first thing that will attract me to an MMORPG is PvP. I just can't seem to get into a game that doesn't have PvP in some form. I love PvE too though but PvP has to be there for me to get my kicks. Anyways... For all the people that have been looking for some good FFA PvP action, you may want to try Mythos once it's live. The game is getting a big overhaul and a lot of the instancing is gone so there is a more open world. This really opens up FFA PvP. Towns will be safe zones and dungeons will be private. But the world itself is FFA PvP. Also only Shadowlands characters can take part in PvP so this stops PvE chars levelling up safely and then coming over to Shadowlands to gank PvPers and then running back to PvE land. (where Shadowlands chars couldn't go before) There is also looting in this game and as far as i know one of your items can drop when you die. Thats the plan at the moment anyways but that may change at launch. This really appeals to me and for anyone thats interested in item looting, you may want to give it a go. (items aren't as difficult to come by like in WoW so don't be too scared to give it a go) The game is in CB at the moment but you can apply on the site for entrance. Its not too difficult to get in. Open Beta starts soonish though. It'd be great to get a good PvP community up and running in this game. Anyway this game looks to have a great future and i'm happy something is there to console me after i lost all my faith in AoC |

the pvp is really unbalanced right now due to certain overpowered skills, something I hope the devs sort as it heads into open beta. plus all fights end in like 7 seconds, -20% damage in pvp isnt near enough :S Its a shame the dungeon pvp is going,i thought it added a lot of extra risk :( .the item dropping will remain I reckon, even though a lot of people complain about it. it makes you wonder why someone actively seeks an item looting ,no safe zone pvp play mode and then complains afterwards? im glad the shadowgate stuff has gone too, so anyone who goes doesnt go pvp mode can no longer access the pvp server. |

I never got a chance to test pvp since I could barely get the game to run or even install properly after zone 3. I'm back up and running, thankfully (I was trying to install to my D:\ drive - kept getting false permissions errors - it installed perfectly to the default location, though), so I'm looking forward to testing the new build.

My dog ate your homework. |
What is Shadowlands exactly? This sounds really interesting, especially if they're making the game more open world. |

Originally posted by markoraos its kinda gone now with the new world changes, but basically it was a mirror image of the normal world but with full open pvp. you could go there anytime you wanted by crossing a portal. a lot of problems came about with this though,as people who had safely levelled up on the pve side were coming and going as they please, and ganking low level shadowlands only players (people who are permenantly in pvp mode) you could fight anywhere,in towns,in dungeons and out in the wilderness, and if you were killed you dropped a random equipped item which your enemy could loot. with the new changes,it'll now be seperated to a pvp only world and a pve only world,so theres no crossing back and forth. |

Yeah classes are very unbalanced at the moment. But devs know about this but want to get the game into open beta before balancing. Once overworld is fully implemented they're gonna get to work on balancing. And tbh if class balance is the only real problem they have in beta then they're doing well. Hopefully it works out for them as they seem to be cool guys and constantly interact with the testers and get their oppinion. |

I highly doubt that, unless you can quote them. Open Beta is essentially a marketing ploy before a game goes live. Beta is generally only opened up after a game is pretty close to being ready for release, otherwise it can ostracize the potential subscriber base. Personally, I think the devs thought the game was close to ready with the zone 3 update, but clearly that's not the case. These new changes are massive and need to be tested at least a month before open beta begins, IMO. ~Ripper |

I really don't think they thought the game was ready tbh man. Devs who think the game is ready don't change core features of the game (in this case making the world persistant) Seems to me this idea was in the mill for a while. |

skill balancing is taking place right now,as theyre sorting out the new overworld,so they arent waiting for open beta to do that though im sure that there will still be balancing needed even then. "- continued Pyromancer skill balance" (dev blog 22nd may) http://forums.mythos.com/showthread.php?t=15898 I think theyre sorting the big problems that mythos has skill wise as theres been a lot of topics and issues brought up about them. Meteor, telsas, blade breaker and a few gadgeteer rifle skills are totally dominant, and some skills such as field of fire, flame trap, bauble trap and blazing blade are really useless. it will be nice to finally see some balance come in as its sorely needed. The heradries and crafting are being rebalanced right now too. Theyve squeezed in stack splitting as well |
