I will say I do enjoy the content of Conan, but for the most part it is the same old same old when your doing quest, go here and collect 7 shiny stones, go here and collect a thing of wine.... I think it will be ages before we all can escape this kind of quest content, but for the most part is is good enough to entertain you while your griding away... The EXP seems to fly by because they seem to be giving you grind kill exp and quest exp at the same level so I think you can do one or the other , though you will have to do quests to get into certain ereas of the game, which reminded me of a guild wars type game experience. THe animations seem to work well at the first log in , like when you turn your character he looks and his shoulders follow, but then after a few rounds of combat he just slides his feet around with out turning his head, could be a bug.... Graphics are gorgeous though I have already said I hate that foliage, and with they had an options to just turn it off cause it is just a pet peive of mine that spinning shrubs make me dizzy .... Character design and costume design are pretty nice, though when I look at the character he doesn't look like what I created in the creation tools. The over all character creations is very nice and has a lot of different sliders and things to adjust so most folks will spend about 30 minutes doing that. From a content of the game that i've seen so far I would score about 75-89%, but it all fails on the shoulders of the performance. If they can work out the kinks of the performance for people using 2 gigs of ram, they will sell more games... |

Most people can't grasp the difference between AoC's quests and quests in other MMO's. I don't know if it's an ignorance thing or if it has to do with all of the new gamers in todays gaming world that have only played games like WoW or LoTRO.
This game is labled a MMORPG. Which means while being a massive multiplayer online game, it also has elements of a role playing game as well. I think the problem comes with people not knowing what role playing really is, or thinking that it's stupid to be creative, so they dismiss it entirely.
The game is made by the content. The quests are great because they mean something. Like, you're not picking up five different kill quests because the NPC says to kill them. You're picking up quests because that NPC has lost their valuables in a pirate raid. You're killing those picts because they are attacking trading caravans every day. You're gathering material for a shopkeeper because they have been robbed by the tyrant ruled Red Hand. It's not random. There is rhyme and reason to your actions. But, I guess most people will read this and say blasphemy, not because I'm wrong.. but because they just weren't brought up in a way that they can understand. |

LOTRO and eq2 have the same thing as well (having played/playing both).i havent run into 1 lotro quest which didnt have a "story" or content behind it...and am lvl 29 |

Originally posted by DAS1337The quest are the same as any other game, you follow a story path that leads you around with little arrows and go kill or collect things, that is the bottom line... there is not mysterious uber element to this game quest content, it is typical to the current mmorpgs of this era.

Originally posted by miagisan I think what he means is that there is a difference between WoW's block of text, which I doubt anyone ever reads or gives a !@#$ about :p and AoC's quests where it all makes sense when u actually talk it out with the NPC like a top RPG. |
