"Game Experience May
Change During Online Play"

CAKE OR DEATH

I am not a big fan of item decay, but i feel that it is something that should be in games for the economy's sake.  So i was thinking of a way to do it, im not sure if it has been done before so if it has please tell me how it worked in that game. This could be somewhat difficult to program, i dont know.

So ever item in game has basically hit points. So we will say that a longsword has 200hps. Now the material it is made out of, and the quality of the weapon will give a percentage on the likelyhood the weapon/armor will take damage during a fight. So a poor quality copper longsword will have a much better chance to take damage then a high quality mitheral longsword. If the items takes damage then you can have it repaired, but each time you have it repaired the likelyhood of it taking damage increases.

If the item gets to 0 then of course it breaks and is done, but also say you let it get below 25% of its points then it has a chance to just break and be unrepairable.

This would work for every weapon and ever piece of armor that you have.

So has this been done, would it work?
