After a few days of pessimistic posts in the AoC forums here, now suddenly a rush of optimism about the news claiming 1million subscribers to beta. Hype or are they really saying the truth?... And the negative posts have disappeared completely.
edit: I'd appreciate this thread not to be an arena for fanboys vs haters. It's just to follow AoC developement in a relaxed way, and to discuss its impact on WAR. |

FR- 20-35fps with occasional drop into the teens Overall very playable IMO considering how smooth it was. |

Well I don't know about the 1 million thing, though I wouldn't doubt it. The optimism stems largely from a late patch in open beta that, for most people, largely fixed the games technical issues and greatly increased performance across the board. A lot of people are hyped up about the game and through my own extensive closed beta experience I can say it's by far the most fun game I've played in some years. It wasn't, by any stretch of the imagination, the most perfect beta I ever participated in. There were times when technical problems drove me away until they patched again a week later. The best 'beta' I've been in was LotRO, which I tested for some 8 months (I've tested AoC for about 6 months.) But I can say that I was so burnt out and bored to tears with LotRO that, even though I thought it was a great game and I put a lot of effort into doing my part of testing, I still haven't bought the released game to try, or gone through a trial account. However in the 6 months I've tested AoC, I've not become closed to burnt out and the game has just gotten more and more fun over that time. I do honestly hope that WAR does as well as AoC is doing, hell perhaps even better. I personally doubt it will draw me away from AoC, (though it may become my 'need a break from my main MMOG.. MMOG,) lol. I recognize the benefit of having two great MMOGs in the same year. More choice for the masses, and maybe, just maybe we can get enough WoW newbies (those who's first experience in MMOGs is WoW, the vast majority of it's subscribers,) to learn that there's more to MMOGs then just WoW.
Oh, and if you want this to just be a discussion of AoC and it's impact, if any, on WAR, then you should have chosen a better title. Your title (and someone what your initial post,) made it sound like you were trying to troll AoC, or bash them and call it horrible, just because your a WAR fan and want to see the 'competition' fail. |

what your seeing on AOC board is a prime example as why mythic won't have official forums. |

Yes, that's true. But I can't change it now, wouldn't be fair to the people that answered already. I will think of something.
edit: done. |

MMORPGs sell more on word of mouth, and actual experiences with the game far more than following a name and publicity. Explain swg? matrix online? Two big mass media named franchises. Yet their sells weren't indicative of it. Quality does influence sales. |
