But with that said, I suggest that those who aren't in Fileplanet beta still wait for NDA release of the closed beta before making a preorder. Because Fileplanet beta testers are shown only 13 levels, first few hours, of the game. While that is good, it doesn't tell anything about if they have finished content for later levels at all. And even in this thread, a person told about lvl 18 boss mob dropping nothing. That doesn't promise good...

This is funny? Blizzard rep said at their official forum that the engine used in this beta build is even older than that during the PvP weekend.

IT'S BETAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...It's not even on the freakin shelves yet.  Pathetic arguments.

It's not BETA.  It's a paid marketing campaign.

There is quite a difference.

They can do very little in 3 weeks of OPEN BETA (paid for by monkeys who want to try before buy)

This is a paid 'trial' offer and nothing more.  THERE IS NO BETA ABOUT THIS.

It's both of course. Marketing AND beta. Whoever is denying either aspect is either a fanboy or a hater. Obviously you won't see changes to core mechanics anymore, but adjusting hard- and software to realistic player loads isn't something you can do on realease day.

Folks, now that the NDA is lifted, all I can say is: It's a crying shame.

I mean, the game tries to do new and wonderful things.  But sadly it seems this game was designed more for XBox 360 players than PC players.  It's not a bad MMO, but it has been simplified to accomodate players using a controller.  Why do you think Microsoft had such an interest in this games development?

I just couldn't get past the over-instancing and having to repeat that stupid 20 lvl, single player game everytime you wanted to make an alt to try classes.  One or two times, sure fine, but for crying out loud, let me bypass it!  And no, I don't want to wait till lvl 80 to do so!

This game will do well, but probably not as well as people had originally hoped.  The appeal is there, it's just not that broad in it's scope.  I won't be buying it but I wish it all the best.  I have a lot of time for Funcom and the work they do. :)

AoC is the first slasher mmo i've played in quite a while (playing EVE).  I'm not judging the game, but I'm not sure if I enjoy this genre anymore.

I enjoy this enre but the combat is not revolutionary in the least. Cutting off heads gets redundant after awhile. Other then that it s just a clickfest on a littlesquare that lights up.

its far more fun to press keys than click :) atleast combat isnt 2seconds per swing.

What do you do in other games? click the little icon square on your hotbar?

oh yeah,.. more key clicks to do they same thing.  1left 2 up 3right swing and *fun*  ///um no.
it has 5 minutes of interest and that's it.
But as the devs and fanbois like to say 'it makes it soooo more involved and immersive'.
Um... grinding the same shiat and having to click more keys is just tiresome.
This 'feature' is a actually a regression because most games offer keybinds, but you monkeys like anything shiny.  You are simple to pleez.
You fail at mmo design innovation.
When you are killing your 20,000 'bol' lemme know how that is workin' out for ya.  Do you wanna hit it from the left, the right or smash it on the head... all of which are the same as pressing 1, 2, 3.... BUT with extra keys to hit becuase the devs think hitting more keys is 'funner' than hitting less keys.
Um... try making a better game to be fun.  Don't try to add key mechanics in to make something simple more difficult and annoying.
But that is the saga of this company... one step forward and two steps back.  Enjoy your carpal tunnel.
Because instead of combat keys 1, 2, 3, you are pressing combat keys 1left, 2up, 3 right..... um.. more tedium is not fun and may be more engaging for a few minutes, but it is epic fail.
/cancel preorder

sorry for the double post. But this guy nailed the main issue with this game.

Whats the difference in pressing keys to make a directional attack to pressing keys to a hotbar skill?
Or the difference from clicking on the gui to clicking the hotbar?
Just because keybinds are locked in this client version who says the release will be like that? they have said you will be able to remap keys.
Funcom state the combat system is easy to learn hard to master. If you guys have been playing for a few hours without enough skills to fill up your task bar how the hell do you know what its fully going to be like? Did you get it Hard to learn, easy to master? They even dumbed down the combat too..
Wait, you have one hand on your mouse, pressing both buttons moves you.
Your other hand will be on 1,2,3  (Left,Middle,Right) (lets pretend we are a noob) you can map some combos to 4,5,6,
Combo 4 leads with left, 5, middle and 6 right.
You dont even have to mess with your shields, just look at the enemies.
Press 1, you swing left.
The npc moves his shields left.
You press OR click 6
press 3 (because its the precusor to activate combo 6 which is a right side starter)
You do you combo with extra damage then simply pressing 3
The NPC shifts his shields again
You can strafe around him if you want, he might strafe around you, - remember you have to face your opponent.
You start over till death, adding in snares, buffs, frenzy etc.
You chain kill
You hit multiple opponents in your weapon arc swing..
*******************************************************
NORMAL GAME.
Press Control and <insert target nearest person> key
Press you keybind /macro and it will que up all your skills to perform one after another all hitting perfectly on NPC or player.
Rinse / repeat
*Skillfull clap*
*Wipes sweat off brow, yea man that took some doing, was tough*
********************************************************
Wait till you use Q and E as extra directions in PvP with a cunning opponent, group combat, buffs etc.
Im really sorry that you have to pay attention in what your doing in AoC, maybe some of you are just used to playing other games by pressing 1 button and thats all your used too? /Shrug
I am actually enjoying the involvement in combat, rather than a laid back 1 button push it does it for you 'done it all before' game.
I fail to see how you can sum it all up without the extra directions or combos and abilities at such a low level.
How many options did you have as a player with referance to skills in any noob zone of any mmo? How weak do you feel as a nooby...

That sounds like....why...just...why?

(note: I hate WoW's one button BS...but one extreme to the other...meh.)

The pen is mightier than the sword if the sword is very short, and the pen is very sharp.

Not canceling. A few hiccups (to be expected)  but in general I like it a lot.

I've not pre-ordered the game, but I will most likely buy it after it's released. From what I saw last night in my first trek through the beta (only level 6 so far), it's not a bad game at all, reminds me of Dungeons & Dragons Online in some ways, another mmo which I really enjoy. Sure it's a little buggy (climbing doesnt work *grrr*), but that'll all get straightened out shortly.

Give the game a chance, more than a day. I'm betting it will grow on alot of people over time.

Climbing does work... you need to press 'U' when near a climbing point (and you need to have some points in your 'Climbing' skill).

I've been on the beta for some time and this is probably the most common problem/question.  I think they've put some tutorial windows in regarding it but not everyone reads them....

Hope that helps :)
