Something must have happened to the gene pool lately...

Nothing in the below post breaks the NDA in any shape or form, having said that, here are 10 reasons why you should cancel your pre-order ASAP.

1. The so called "open beta" is infact a fileplanet subscriber exclusive.

2. The open beta only allows you to get to level 13, which means you wont even get to the MMO part of the game. Might aswell be a singleplayer demo in that aspect.

3. With less then a month left to release the NDA is STILL in effect.

4. Online gaming sites have only been allowed to play under supervision and for a very limited amount of time, which effectively limits their reporting to whatever funcom wants them to report.

5. Countless beta leaks on various forums (of which many are consistent with other leaks) stating a plethora of issues with the game and that it is not ready for release.

6. Where are the ACTUAL siege movies? So far all weve seen are video demonstrations and not fraps recordings of two real beta guilds sieging it out. Not even a screenshot!

7. Its funcom. Remember Anarchy Online? Dubbed by many to be the worst launch in MMO history(possibly rivaled by dark and light).

8. Lucrative yet expensive pre-order deals (read: siege mounts) usually means the devs are out to make a quick buck before the shi* hits the storm (a'la dark and light).

9. The amount of information released on one of the game's biggest selling points is vague at best, looking more like a showcase of its potential then what is actually implemented right now. Yes im talking about sieging.

10. And last but not least, its fanboys. Ive noticed a trend in games that fail soon after release and that is; the crappier the game, the more rabid the fanboy. We saw this trend in Vanguard, Dark and Light, Pirates of The Burning Sea and DDO. All of whom can be considered rather huge failures in terms of hype pre-release versus success post-release.

All these games had huge followings of rabid fanboys that would burn alive any critic of the game no matter how sounds their arguments were. This trend has become painfully apparent in AoC and unfortunately, its due to these fanboys that would rather flame and troll then question the developers motives of not releasing a full scale NDA-free beta that will ultimately doom this game

Thanks for trying to be my brain. But yours is no upgrade for mine tbh.

I might have taken this slightly seriously if I didn't know Pirrg was an NGE fanbois.

Resons to play,

1. NGE fanbois says it's crap.

I don't even get out of bed each morning unless I have 100 reasons to.
They have already said the NDA will be lifted sometime after open beta starts. It doesn't matter when they lift it, as long as they do.
They release NDA for open beta. Not for closed beta tests.

I felt i had to quote this for emphasis as many dont seem know about this. The above post is indeed true, funcom are NOT releasing NDA for close beta testers, only for open beta testers. That means all you level 13 newbies running around in your singleplayer tutorial can post about how amazing the game is.

In either case, ill be here on release, pointing and laughing, just like i did on Vanguard and Dark and Light. It seems some people never learn.

You can think what you want ...but a company doesn't spend 3 years in development, work directly with microsoft, nvidia, and advertise in reputable magazines just to release a pile of crap.

I think everyone will be satisfied with the game even if there are minor bugs to work out.

Ugh.. unfortunately for you, i know better...

Whats so horrible about waiting a month or two after release rather then funding devs for half-finished games? How many sponorship deals didnt vanguard have? I mean really, when will you learn?

Unfortunately, everyone assumes they know better. So this statement does not really help anything because no one will believe it. The times I've read that someone knows better on these forums is not even funny anymore.

For example, for the longest time, people -KNEW- that Spellweaving would not be in at launch and wasn't even going to be revealed.

Funny how that turned out, no?

Lets just say my "knowledge level" is 77 and yours is 0, shall we? When i say i know, it means i KNOW. Im not speculating here like most people. The fact that they arent fully releasing NDA should speak volumes but i suppose people are too desperate for a good mmo to waste their lives on to see the truth. Human nature wins again, what sheep you are.

Your knowledge-level (how cute), proves about....wait...lemme see....it's coming...ZIP.

Because all those other Doomsayers had the same kind of funny ways of saying they are in Beta and knowing more than us poor uneducated people. And by the way, what makes you "think" that I don't have my own sources? Any particular insight?

Guess not.

Everyone, DO NOT FEED THE TROLL!

Pirrg, is a little troll who used to get his jollies on the SWG forum.  He did nothing but troll there and it looks like he has finally found something else to troll about, grats Pirrg.

I could refute all his points, but it would go against NDA and anyway, who cares!

Leave Pirrg to his attention seeking ways and again - DO NOT FEED THE TROLL.

Hells Bells

I remember when WoW was released, well just before maybe a month before. I seriously didn't hear any real gripes or whines before it was launch like i do with this game. All i heard was how cool WoW was going to be and what kind of character you were going to play.  Basically people couldnt wait for WoW to be released so they could start playing it. But with this game it seems to be surrounded with controversy on what it will be when it is released. I say companies that don't have a strong reputation when making a MMO seem to never  really live up to people expectations of what they feel the game should be.  i think personally this game (AoC) will be some what like Star Wars Galaxies it seem like it will be a good game at first but then once released will only keep the true fans or fanboys playing it.  I feel strongly it will be a mess at launch but in time may smooth out, but this is based on the reputation of the company, as for the most part MMo's these days seem to release with alot of issues, unless they come from a well known company that has a pretty good rep in the gaming world. All i can say i think the rule of thumb with MMO's is wait about 6 months to a year and then see if the game is any good and if the company has lived up too their promises of making the game truly better.

i Beta tested these games

final fanasty XI, nmatrix online, DDO, LOTR online.

Played these games, WoW, Asherons call, Everquest 1 and 2, final fanasty XI, star wars galaxies (4 years)

lineage 2, asherons call 2 (ashamed to say that i did), Guild Wars (even tho  aint a real MMO but close).
