For the longest time I've been coming to this site and reading various posts on just about everything and I have noticed a few things. One of them being the ENORMOUS sense of Entitlement that some of the gamers here feel they posses. They feel that somehow it's their god given right to partake in everything and anything without any kind of thought as to why. When asked why they feel this way they simply state "because" and make it look like I've asked the most absurd question ever. I just don't get it. Why do they not realize that entries into BETAs and certain events is the sole discretion of the owner/proprietor and it's their choice who gets in or how they go about choosing who gets in or not? In particular I was in the AoC forum section here and a few people in there are bitching up a storm because they haven't gotten in or can't get in because they lack accounts at fileplanet or what have you. So what? They make it sound like them getting to play the game for free now is a make or brake scenario when it comes to them buying the product later on. It's as if they think that it's the duty of the game makers to let them in. I have signed up for various beta tests in the last 10 years that I have been been playing mmos and I have gotten into some, gotten passed over in others and it never bothered me. It never meant to me that if I didn't get accepted that I'd forget the game in question all together. It just meant that I'd have to wait a bit longer much like the MAJORITY of the population planing to pick the game up. I've even waited a week after launch just to hear the word of mouth responses from people so that I can get a better grasp of what it is like, and perhaps go over to somebody I know that has purchased it and test it there for myself. Any thoughts? |
