CAKE OR DEATH

Has anyone found anything new on what Bioware is doing?

I have been scrounging around the web and it seems like the Kotor rumors are dying down a bit and the Forgotten Realms rumors are getting stronger.

I would prefer Forgotten Realms because i really like the world but Kotor would be cool also.

Im also very interested in what 38 Studios will be bringing.

Yes, but they are keeping a very tight lid on things. Im not sure why companies feel they have to keep it all a secret but they are doing a fine job.

I dunno, more and more I fear we gonne be mayorly dissapointed. I dont understand all this endless secrecy humbug as if Biowere were a secret department of alien hunters!

All the secrecy is to build up hype, seems to be doing a good job at it since everyone is wondering what they are making.

Personally I am not bothered to much what it is, I heard the lead designer do a speech on the game ( as in what they wanted to do with an mmo) it honestly sounded like he wanted to make a WoW clone with more emphasis on story lines.

Hopefully I just misinterpreted it but I can't really think of a game Bioware has made that has not been mediocre in the gameplay department but great in the story telling department. So it does sound like the kind of thing the company would do.

Stand up for what you believe; Even if you stand alone.

Personally I can still only think of one reason for the quiet: The IP is Star Wars.  There are legal complications that must be resolved and will be in time and they are only keeping so quiet at the request of Lucas' people who are nutorious for keeping a tight lid on pretty much everything.

Nothing else really makes rational sense...

War is not the ultima ratio, but the ultima irratio - Willy Brandt

Well, The only reason why we know about the Bioware MMO at all this early is because Bioware has opened a new office in Austin, Texas, USA, for it. Therefore, Bioware couldnt avoid getting it published that they are doing a MMO. But they wont inform us about it before they think its the right time, and that right time obviously hasnt occured yet. There even has been an interview with the devs, and rarely have I ever seen that little information revealed about a game in a dev interview.

GFW: Can you talk about where the game takes place? Is it fantasy? Sci-fi?

JO: We can't talk about the setting of the game yet.

(Great, one cant quote in this &(!"&!!!! forum)

And yes, theres a rumor going around its placed in the Star Wars world, but thats nothing but pure speculation from the side of the fans.

I still very much enjoy the fantasy games (though good ones are hard to find) so i really hope that they are going to make a Forgotten Realms title. Forgotten Realms to me is the holy grail of fantasy IP, the world is huge, characters are great and options are near endless.

But if they truely are making a WoW clone then i hope it isnt Forgotten Realms, the IP is worth way more then that.
