excuses excuses excuses... but still NOTHING that substantiates this game is nothing but a FRAUD..
Aragon100 or some of his aliases can make 500 posts about it, but time has run out for the darkfall lie and less and less people believe in it..
still a big shame that mmorpg.com supports it without any critical stance..

Well nothing like quoting a true looney toon! I mean come on, the "next Wow killer", that is hilarious. No unlimited pvp game is going to be anything but a niche product at best. I am not criticizing Darkfall for being such an animal, but lets face it, while there are many of us waiting for this game, we are a small minority when it comes to the MMO fanbase. Quoting someone as irrational as that ,just feeds the hate mongers. All the current games have good graphics. Great graphics does not guarentee a good game. Gameplay determines that. Gameplay style determines who plays the game and a full pvp style does is not attractive to many MMO players. I still look forward to seeing this game published one day, but let's not go overboard on the projected audience. I think the developers are using their funding wisely by not keeping a lot of full time staffers employed, but then again, you can ignore a lot of the feature list on their website too, they just don't have the staff to do all that. Let's hope they can get a beta out this year. I think probably late 2009 is what they are aiming for now. |

Aragon100, You need to just ignore draccan and estonia. They are avid Darkfall haters and, as you can see in this thread, are just forum trolls who add nothing to the topic besides attacking an OP they disagree with. Estonia has even decided to PM me his/her responses to my posts about darkfall for some reason. You made your point to those who are willing to keep an open mind trust me. It is going to be so great when this game is released if they can sort out an effective way to publish it, and it will be funny to see what the naysayers have to say. Probably 1-liner stuff like "what did you want us to think" as they rush out the door to buy the game. Darkfall suffers from absolutly terrible PR, no doubt about it, but anyone claiming it to be vaporware either does not understand what the word means, or has absolutly no understanding of how a business operates and the hurdles associated with game development. |

If that doesn't describe Darkfall or better yet that Tasos guy to a tee than I don't know what does considering it's been around in one for or some other form since 2001 and has a feature set of which 95% has never even been seen but yet continues to be boasted about publically by it's devs. Darkfall gives vaporware a bad name... |

Originally posted by Aragon100 So you've managed to find a random blog post from an unconfirmed source (who claims to be a Sega art director) giving a 2 year old opinion on a game that will never see the light of day. Well done. It's possible that, back in 2006, the blogger genuinely thought that the game was great, and was ready for release. Clearly that wasn't the case. Makes this person's opinion seem pretty redundant and deluded, don't you think? I don't think anybody doubts that Aventurine has employed people to work on this project, either now or in the past. Most however (except the most self-deluding believers) see that, despite this, they still have little or nothing to show for their efforts. Plenty of games never make it out of the starting gates despite having existing code frameworks and/or art assets, as investors realize that they won't get a sufficient return on their money to justify any further expense and decide it's better to cut their losses than throw more money away. And no, despite your shrill protests and red-faced anger I do not hate this game (or more correctly, this game concept). I genuinely would have liked to play something like this, but I just don't believe it will ever manage to crawl into release (don't forget Gods and Heroes was much further along in development than Darkfall, well into late Beta when they pulled the plug on that game). More importantly, even if it does finally manage to release it will be so dated (in terms of code and art assets - we've all seen those low-poly 2004-style screenshots) that it won't be worth playing anyway. Seems Darkfall will go down in MMO history alongside such shining exemplars as Vanguard and Dark&Light as another lesson in how NOT to make a MMO. Sad, but it happens. |

One needs look no further than Darkfall's fanbase to understand how little substance this 'game' actually has. Take this thread for instance- what is it about? A Darkfall fan has found an obscure 2-year old 'review' of the 'game' and are touting it as new information, all the while congratulating each other and slapping each other on the back for a job well done. And when confronted with the fact that this info is quite dated and ultimately irrelavant how do they respond? "Well, it's new to me . . ." Such desperate straw-grasping is indicative of one thing: delusion But on the plus side, it is very amusing to watch these fanbois running around like chickens with their heads cut off grabbing onto anything, ANYTHING, that might justify said delusion. It's why i come here after all
