The reports of lag in a such limited scale doesn't bode well for massive PvP.

And DF is of course being tested but they use professionals doing it, not amateurs.

Riiight.  Because we all know Aventurine is the first and only company to do this.   It's been a standard practice in gaming from Single Player to MMO games for a long time now.

Who said Aventurine was the first ?

You made it sound like it was a big deal though.

"After countless delays, the developers of the game claim to currently be in "private beta testing." We're not sure why it has to be private, but the situation is starting to call to mind that friend who always claims to have a girlfriend which nobody has ever seen.  After seven years of waiting we're beginning to suspect Darkfall either doesn't exist or if it does, it's a real dog. "

Everyone is starting to publically take shots at these guys...  have they no shame?

This is what happens when you talk big and have nothing to show for it.... First that Warcry article.. now this thing.. what's next?

I think will reply on this with some special sarcasm:

Vaporware? DF have a homesite, thats proof enough. Why have a homesite if they are not really developing a game?

See, atleast two posts on this thread that doesnt mean a *¤#" : )

Whether it comes or not... it probably cost them a large chunk of money due to salaries, server upkeep, investments, their 'headquarters',... Just thinking of that price-tag makes me doubt it'll come out, unfortunately,...

Edit: My MMORPG.com rating is falling.. :(

Umm, until Aventurine actually comes out with a product, THEY are nobodies as well.

I played the AoC PvP weekend, so I know AoC exist. So far, my reality looks a lot better than yours.

Afaik, this was a very limited test (few avatars on the screens, no DX10 etc.) and still there reports of lagg.

I have had my doubts of the PvP part of the game all the time. I'm even more sure now that PvP isn't polished and will be a dissepointment to PvP'ers. PvE I'm sure will very linear but be good but not really what I'm looking for now. So please enjoy AoC, I'm sure it will be a good game, I'm holding out for much better though :)

Nice response Zorvan

BTW. I was in AoC PvP Beta Weekend and so far it was one of the best RPG gaming experience so far for me.(judging that the rest of the game is fun that way).

You seen reports of Lag in a stress test beta? NO WAY!
As Zorvan already said I have played this game and I know it is a great game first handedly, and DF is still just a dream. So you can just continue playing your imaginary game with your imaginary friends.

P.S. I dont hate DF, Id love to see it succeed and would most certainly play it if it delivers what devs promised the game to be. So far promises are just that...promises.

I don't know what people mean with polish when they talk about PvP, but as far as balance is concerned it can takes quite some time to achieve in any MMO (if ever).

It also depends on what the balance target is. 1vs1, small group skirmishes, big guild battles, castle sieging ... they all have different balance needs. Also early game balance and end game balance is a different ball game.

If I could give an advise, I would suggest not to hold on to any soon-to-come game, nor fall victim to any hype machine, regardless from where it originates. There are good games out there, not perfect, but good enough to keep us entertained, until the newcomers can actually prove to be good alternatives. Hanging on to hype and unfulfilled expectations only leads to bitterness.

I have a philosophy: Life is too short to play crappy games. I don't understand this need where you MUST play, never mind the quality. Balance, at least in theory, is not a issue in a skillbased game. There is no tanks, healers or DPS roles. In fact everyone probably will be able do little of all and specialists will probably have a lower survivability where fast thinking, adaptability and flexibility is KIng

Very interesting philosophy you have....I'd think life was too short to not play any games at all....crappy or not.

Life is too short to play crappy games, yet life is long enough to wait for a game that probably won't come out?  That makes sense....
