''Life is what you make of it, not what others make of yours.''

So I've been trawling through the forums about the PvP weekend and about this and that, and I still have one question still sticking in my mind.

What is the combat really like? I've read either really negative posts about it being WoW-like and than I've read really postive ones confirming my hopes.

So basically now I'm just looking for a few concise and honest answers to put my mind to rest.

And trolls please keep out.

The combat system is about on par with a console game. Auto attack is still there it just isnt automatic, You have to spam 3 buttons to make auto attack happen  They really revolutionized the controls of mmo's, you run around with WASD, spam 1,2,3  and look with your mouse . Brillant

Well the combo system will be hard to master I think. It's not very comfortable to do, and if you miss your combo (by not pressing the right buttons) you lose it, you'll have to wait till the cooldown is over, which is 10 to 20 seconds most of the time. I think most crucial in your fights will be the timing and the fact you do your combos right. What I think is a bit dissapointing is that there are not many spells that puts your target in a disadvantage position, like some disarm ability or something like that. And some basic abilities are shared over many classes, like slam ability which slams your target backwards.

It looks to me that it's a very combo-orientated game, just launch one combo after the other. But I could be wrong, what can we learn after couple of hours pvp with characters you don't even had the time to play with.

Well basically, how much of it is twitch and how much does it steer towards more traditional mmos?

Ok I will say this to OP ive played for about 8 hours total. This is the best combat ive played in any mmo but very difficult to master, its going to keep alot of the kiddies away. Like you said I would compare it more to twitch based but I also love how you can side step to not get hit and when you swing you usually hit every mob around you so its like aoe all the time.

Behold! Rash of the Itch King comes in November! Quake in fear!

It's reflexes more than skill or strategy. Combos will be hard to master but I'm sure Funcom will make them easier quickly once this baby hits the market, or before.

You might be right, nonetheless it does require some sort of skill, more so then say WoW or any other similar combat system. Not to mention the fun factor, which might loose it's appeal after a couple of months, but it would always be fun especially with combos and fatalities which u never tire off, I mean I've played Mortal Kombat and Tekken for as long as I can remember and I still LOVe combos and fatalities (in MK)!
