I was thinking about trying out eq2 again, it has been 2 or 3 years since I have played the game. I had a couple of questions to ask that maybe some of the vets could help me with. Is there faction, like eq 1 grinding orcs in ec or wc would allow a evil character to enter freeport once the faction was high enough. Does eq2 have this? or something similar? The pvp servers, are they just all ffa pvp or how does that work? good vs neutral vs evil? please explain. thanks for taking time out of your day to answer my questions. |

Played and enjoyed: |
unless you are refuge from the Betrayal Quest, some cities of opposing factions attack you on sight
there are some exceptions, Kelethin (Greater Fay) and Gorowyn (Kunark)
as to PVP -- no clue

Picking a neutral race means you can choose either good or bad side, determined by which island you want to start out on. With PvP, you're always against the opposite side in a free-for-all manner, ganking is pretty common... So to answer your question - it is Good vs. Evil PvP. |

PvP is good vs Evil, but exiles can kill or be killed by anyone even other exiles if I’m not mistaken. Exiles also have fewer “safeish” places. Despite the disadvantages exile guilds tend to have an advantage on PvP servers because they have access to every class while good/evil guilds have limits in the classes that can join.
There are some faction quests in RoK that give you access to merchants, and changing your home city requires a few hours of faction questing. Otherwise there is no real faction grind. Any character can go to a city of their own alignment freely and in some case some cities of the opposite alignment as long as they stay away from certain areas. Merchants/NPC’s may not talk to you though. |
