Well I was hacked in Dec. and immediately notified my account had been reactivated after not being used for several months, so I log in and sure as hell I find some dumb-ass credic ard info, So I change my password and notify Blizzard. I checked in a couple times to make sure said dumb-ass hadn't hacked back in, but never played. Now I am informed that dumb-ass is disputing the charges on his daddies credit card and they are "charged back' to Blizzard who in tum has locked my account and wants me to pay for the 1 month of unused service. Oh well... I guess I should have went shopping on that guys credit card!!

It's really irritating situation. Not only for you, but also for Blizzard. The whole system is flawed because people can pay to Blizzard for the service, then decide they aren't happy, dispute the charge, and Blizzard loses all the money for the service they provided. So naturally they aren't happy for that happening on your account.
But remember to check that your antivirus program and firewall are working, that all your programs are updated, and run a full scan with the antivirus program to make sure that you don't have the keylogger wich stole your password on your computer any more. Other advice than that I really can't give, since you are right in that you shouldn't have to pay for service you never asked, and Blizzard is equally right in that you are responsible yourself for your account's security and that they should recieve a payment for the services they provided to that account. EDIT: But keep complaining to Blizzard a little before paying, unless you think that it's not so large amount of money it'd be worth it. /EDIT EDIT2: I just read your post on another topic, in there you say "BUT Blizzard said if I pay for it I will get the one month of play since I didn't actually play during the month it was hacked" In that case, what is the problem. If you want to play, you just pay the normal fee, and go on playing. If you don't want to play, then you don't need your account either. I think Blizzard's offer to you sounds very fair. /EDIT |

Problem is I don't want to play, BUT I would alos like to have the option if later I want too... That was the agreement we worked out. So I paid the month I was hacked and in turn I will get one month free. When I was hacked I didn't even have WOW on my machine, infact I had done complete system install in Oct. and was hacked in Dec. All of my log in info was changed the day he hacked me. It's all good.now...Just sucks to have to submit to some shit head who hacked my account. |

U think a hacker donst change the info? why in the hell would a hacker log into ur account and not change the info, and also add his credit card info to the account lol? Your whole story sounds wrong to me tbh. I think you sold ur account to someone, decided u got bored and tried to take it back thats why the other person is disputing, u think a hacker would dispute it? |

Same thing happened to me i get an email saying my account was comprimised i send an email back to them and they say my account and email dont match yet they sent the email to me and now i will never get my account back. I refuse to buy the game again i refuse to give Blizzard $15 a month and tbh i will never play any of there games again. Worst staff ever. |

same thing happened to me, i got hacked and i called blizzard in 2-3 hrs to report the situation, my account got restored everything was fine, to further pursue the hacker i called the customer service and asked for the IP of the hacker since some1 else's credit card was charged to pay monthly fee, and i was doing that as a favor to help out the guy to find who stole his credit card. Blizzard refused to give me the IP address and then i got banned....
They have the worst customer service ever, i understand they are frustrated about all the 12 year olds crying about their hacked accounts but thats no way to treat an adult or a paying customer. I am done with blizzard MMO's too with this kind of customer service. |

I really think they like doing this so people will go out and buy the game again and they make more money because of it meanwhile they claim to have all those subscribers and im pretty sure half of them are banned accounts.. |

Lol well Blizz has 10 million people to take care of, individually we're not special. Sounds like big BS by Blizz though, but I liked the perspective from Blizz's point of view. You're supposed to take care of account security so they feel like they need payment for a month of service they provided, doesn't matter to who they provided it to. Life sucks, screw big business! Lol. |

Something like this happened to me a few months ago. I hadn't logged into the game for about 2 weeks. I'm at work and I get an email(forwarded to my pda phone) that my password has been request to be reset. Then 5 minutes later I get an email saying I'm under a 72 ban for inappropriate behavior. So I reset my password 2 times and when I finally log in my lvl 70 rogue is dead in Shadow Lab. I go back to town and start looking through my stuff. Everything is there and I even have a different amulet. Before I had 375 herbalism/alchemy, now I had 375 herbalism/mining. I also had a ton of successful auctions in the bank, by the time I cleared out the emails I had about 800 gold. I checked my other lower level characters and one of those had a ton of auction emails as well. By the time I cleared him out he had about 1000 gold. My friend had tried to call me a few nights earlier because he saw my characters online but they wouldn't respond. He got one to respond but the person asked him for gold, he told the guy to call his cellphone and the person logged off. I guess I was lucky because I keep hearing when you get hacked you get back into the game naked with nothing left. I must have reset my password just in time. Finally I just felt it wasnt worth it to keep playing because the grind for items was getting annoying so I canceled my account. |
